So the wording on the DT slot on detachment is says you may include 1 DT for each other slot.
It doesn't say anything about each slot needing to be able to ride in said Transport

I am missing something, or could I add a transport for a slot even if that unit couldn't ride in that transport?
For example, could I take an Outrider detachment of Aeldari with 4 units of Windriders and 4 Druhkari Venoms?
The Windriders obviously could not ride in the Venoms as they are neither Druhkari nor Infantry, but I don't see any other reason this could not happen

On a tactical note, it would probably be better to take Warriors anyway so that I could take the Battalion detachment and get more CPs

Absolutely. You could take a Predator Tank and a Rhino as its dedicated transport as well if you wanted to.

Now, this doesn't seem to be that broken if we disregard the vehicles which might be too good in and of themselves (Taurox Prime etc.), and most transports are quite expensive.

Yep, its a non-issue as long as you're playing with power levels or points because vehicles are so expensive now, you just aren't able to take that many transports even if you wanted to.

Hey, how about this, I have a Space Wolves detachment with Stormwolf-flyer, can I mount Dark Angels characters from another detachment into it?

No. On the Stormwolf's datasheet, in the transport section, it says it can transport 16 space wolf infantry models. So no Dark Angels in a Stormwolf.
By the way, you said "from another detachment", but your dark angels and space wolves could be in the same detachment, since they share the imperium keyword.

You need to read the transport's datasheet for what it may transport. For example, the Stormwolf says it may transport 16 Space Wolves Infantry models.

Okay, thats what I figured also, but has anyone seen allied rules. Is there possibilty to over ride this transport rule?

There are no specific 'Ally' rules. The way the rules are set up already allows you to take allies.

The only one I know of is Inquisitors who have a special rule that allows them to ride in any Imperial transport.

So how do dedicated transports work now? it says for each "other" unit. does that mean Any vehicle that can transport units can be a DT? are there specific ones? ( a stormraven as a DT, or my Black Templars and their Landraider Crusaders) can each unit get one, or is there a limit? I am confused and probably overthinking it. Were Centurions and Terminators able to ride in drop pods before? How does this affect drop pod armies? (besides being really expensive now)

Only units marked with the 'Dedicated Transport' Battlefield Role symbol (the skull in the upwards pointing arrow) are Dedicated Transports.

But you can take detachments with tons of HS slots and/or multiple detachments. Shouldn't be a problem at all.
