Hi All
I'm working on a concept for a forge world and wanted your opinions, suggestions and ideas. For the moment it is just to give an idea of where the Tech Priest Enginseers attached to my Imperial Guard army come from, but I might create an Admech/Skitarii force from this Forge World and 'possibly' even a "Necron" (Warriors of Iron concept) force at some point in the future.
Binarus VIII
Binarus VIII is a comparatively small Forge World on the outer fringes of Segmentum Pacificus. The primary focus of this Hive World is the production of Cybernetica and Bionics, and as such their servitors and bionics are considered to be of the highest quality.. Nobles from across the Segmentum will often trade large amounts of wealth for Servitors and Bionics from the Tech Priests of Binarus VIII.
Because of their devotion to furthering their knowledge of Cybernetica the Hive World is heavily defended by legions of Skitarii and Servitors. It is not uncommon for the legions of Binarus VIII to accompany the Imperial Guard to war in return for their mortally wounded soldiers. It is assumed that these soldiers are turned into Skitarii or servitors, or though this has never been confirmed.
Several of the planets in the Binarus system have been transformed into penal colonies run by the Tech Priests of Binarus VIII. The Tech Priests will often use these prisoners for experimentation and turning into Skitarii or Servitors. Because of this bleak future, the Binarus system provides large quantities of penal legions to the Imperial Guard.
Because of their large contributions to the Imperium in the form of such manpower, many of the practices that on both on the Penal Worlds and Binarus VIII are not looked at too closely. This lack of scrutiny has resulted in a sub-sect of the Binarus VIII Tech-Priests experimenting with Artificial Intelligence, something considered Tech Heresy and would result in significant repercussions from both the Imperium and Mars should it be discovered.
Whilst the wider Imperium is unaware of these experiments, the Tech Priests have gotten very close to developing true AIs. What the future consequences of this will be is unknown.

Very cool trade dynamic between the AdMech and the other imperial factions!

Thanks, given that my IG home world has a very corporate nature, and produces large amounts of military equipment for the Imperium, I imagined there would be strong economic links with the forge world. I suspect that the Admech of Binarus VIII will have a strong presence (especially with regards to engineseers) on my Hive world, most likely having been given territory and property in trade for their services. Also, given that the Admech of Binarus would require a regular supply of humans, its something that my Hive world would be able to supply in required numbers.

Yeah I like the trade mechanic too. I remember reading somewhere (I think it was on Iron Sleet) about an Inquisitor motioning to his 'exquisite servitor' which is just a really cool image you don't expect from a servitor.
If your Forge World is creating servitors for sale to decadent Imperial nobles, you could make them really exquisitely made. Only the finest looking human stock as a basis, and really fine engraved/filligreed bionic implants. It'd contrast quite nicely with the grimness of them being drawn from penal worlds.
Oh, if you want to go deeper into the worldbuilding aspect of it, you could make a little warband of dudes from the penal world.
Bit of a non-sequitur, but do you know what the origins of those stretch ear-ring hoop things is? Back at the height of the slave-trade, women in Africa used to purposely stretch earlobes and lips because it would make them less desirable to slave traders, and so less likely to be captured and sold into slavery.
I could imagine the same thing happening on your penal world, with people purposely marring themselves to make them less suitable for being turned into one of their high-class servitors.
Neat idea you've had loads of potential

I definitely like some of these ideas. Love the idea of exquisite servitors, same with the bionics. Given the sheer size of my Hive World IG regiments, I wont be in a hurry to be working on another IG contingent, but I do like the idea of the admechs using the underhives as a hunting ground for their basic model stuff (skitarri, defence servitors, experiments, that sort of thing). And the high class aspect would help avoid scrutiny for their other experiments. You don't want to start investigating them if every noble house from across the segmentum starts poking their nose in, or finding something they desperately need the investigators help with.
The clear class divide (grim dark/sun always shines) is something I was going for with my Hive World, so its a nice theme to carry on and makes for a good strong link.
