Hey peoples!

Just starting and building an army idea. Returning to 40k since 4th and think I'm going to start skitarii, or I guess it will be admech in 8th. The general idea is that the Knight will be for aoe infantry killing. The rangers will snipe scary things and the dunecrawlers will be anti tank/fliers with support from the vanguards as needed for that. Cawl's going to be with a vanguard unit to slowly move up the field with the robo chickens stalking up with them.

Please comment and critique as I am a noob and need all the help I can get!

Shave off a troop and add another HQ, and you'll have another command point at your disposal.

I've read that besides cowl, admech HQ are kinda bad.

I mean, you don't technically HAVE to add another HQ. But if you did add an HQ, you could combine it with the three HS slots for an extra command point.

Of course, you might decide that the extra command point isn't worth it.

I'm just pointing out that it's an option you might want to consider.

The only other admech HQ, the tech-priest dominus is OK. Biggest value you're getting in the HQ's is rerolls and repairing robots. Just be aware that admech troop choices are basically subpar for their point cost. You can drop a dunecrawler and a troop selection and take Kastellans with a datasmith instead (kit them for melee or for shooting masses as you see fit). The shooting loadout for kastellan robots will be your best chaff clearing options in your list.

You want Cawl. You also want Kastallens in full dakka mode.

None of your troops should be above 5 man squads since their leadership is trash.

Agreed, I'd split the vanguard into units of 5, 5, and 6.

Alright, any other advice? I can't afford to get enough robots to be practical right now.

If you cant get robots then it should be fine enough to play 8th yes

Once you can, id suggest two boxes or so
