"Each time the model suffers damage from an unsaved wound, roll a D6. If the result is less than the damage inflicted by the attack, the damage is ignored."
How should I handle this when my Necron vehicle takes damage from an augmented attack? For example, a large unit of Zoanthropes inflict "an additional D3 mortal wounds" when they manifest smite. Do I add the D3 to the smite total, and then check quantum shielding, or are the additional D3 mortal wounds a second separate source of damage? As another example, the Heavy Rock cutter continues to damage the target on a 2+, 3+, 4+, etc. Is that additional damage considered to be damage inflicted by one attack, and added together, or separate subsequent attacks?

Each mortal wound in the Zoanthrope case is resolved one at a time. They're wounds that deal 1 damage each. So the additional wounds in this case don't matter. Quatum Shielding cares only about damage. If a single wound would deal additional damage, though, then the extra damage would be counted for the purposes of Quantum Shielding.

I was playing a friendly game against my buddy with Necrons, his Stalker has quantum shielding and i attacked it with my devil dog (Melta tank). i made 2 of the D3 attacks hit and wound, each wound does D6 damage i rolled a 6 and 1, for a total of 7 damage from 1 unit. he stated that it was a auto pass for his stalker due to the quantum shielding rule and all 7 of the damage was negated. Is that correct?

No, the quantum shield roll is per unsaved wound. He had an unsaved wound that did 6 damage (he saves on all but a 6) and one unsaved wound that did 1 damage (cannot be saved by quantum shielding).

He rolls for each unsaved wound. You don't combine damages.
So one would ignore it (the 1 damage one), and the other could be ignored if he rolls below 6 (the 6 damage one)

Thank you for the info, the match would have gone much better for me if we knew that. By any chance do you know what page and in what book i can find that clarification? He is a stickler at times on that stuff.

It doesn't say anything about totaling damage from multiple unsaved wounds.

It's just what Quantum Shielding says. "Each time this model suffers damage from an unsaved wound..." -- it's activating once for every failed save.
Also note that you're not technically allowed to roll multiple saves simultaneously -- the rules tell you to do this one at a time -- so if you're following the procedure from the BRB you'll never be in this position where you're looking at damage rolls from two different unsaved wounds at the same time. Obviously in most cases it makes sense to roll these together to save time, but this is just a convenience thing.

Holy crap, I too was playing this completely wrong. I just reread the rule.
But also note, if it suffers one damage, this roll cannot help you/opponent, as it must be less than the amount of damage taken.
I am now also doubting how this rule interacts with Mortal wounds. As intended I think it should still be applied to mortal wounds (such as if you roll a D5 on D3 mortal wounds, quantum shielding should grant the possible save on a 1 or 2).
However, I'm double checking the rules right now and will post after some review on my final conclusions but if my memory serves, the Zoanthrope and other sources of Mortal wounds do not inflict damage amount but cause X amount of mortal wounds. What I mean by this is, if you inflict three mortal wounds by some source, you do three mortal wounds.
This is not ONE mortal wound which causes three damage, but THREE separate mortal wounds. In which case, if my hunch is right, Quantum shielding cannot save against that or other** mortal wound attacks.
**don't take as a heavy handed sweeping generaliztion Automatically Appended Next Post: And the FAQed it.
"Q. Can Quantum Shielding be used to prevent damage caused
by mortal wounds?
A. No. Mortal wounds are inflicted one at a time, and
as quantum shielding can never prevent a single point
of damage from being suffered, it cannot prevent
mortal wounds. "
Looks like my hunch was correct!

With some of the FW models doing 7+ wounds per hit, does this mean Quantum shielding is an autopass, or does it fail regardless on a 6?

Yeah, its an autopass. It doesn't say a roll of a six always fails, so if the damage is higher than 6, the QS works automatically.
On the flipside, it always fails against weapons with a damage of 1.
