Subject: Deff Kopta Bombing Run

An interesting problem surfaced while I played against Orks yesterday.
Ork Deff Koptas have a bomb they can use one per battle where if they fly over a unit they can drop a bomb on it.
Let's say that a squad of Guardians are 5 inches in front of the Deff Kopta. Would it be enough for the player to claim that the Deff Kopta flew 5 inches to the Guardians(meaning they were above the guardians) and then flew back 5 inches so they would end up at the same place at the beginning of the turn? Would the ork player be able to claim that the Deff Kopta flew over the Guardians and could bomb them even if the Deff Kopta didn't move(just a player's claim)?

I'd say no, they didn't actually pass over the models.

If you physically insist that I pick the models up and move them around, I'm going to make swooshing helicopter noises and keep doing it every time you make a game action
Sounds like refusing this would be very pedantic, no where in rules does it say that models are not allowed to move part ways and then back.

I guess it would depend if the koptas have a rule like most flyers where you have to turn up to 90, then straight line a min move.
Also, any Ork player that does this better be ok with Swooping Hawks flying out 7 inches, grenading a unit, and flying back.

Deffkoptas do not have the 'Supersonic' rule and fluff-wise are the Ork equivalent of Jetbikes.

Moving 5 inches forward and 5 inches back is a legal move. It moves you over the enemy unit. Therefore, this is legal.

absolutely okay with that; Not my place to tell someone else how to spend their movement phase.
