So i picked up some tanks in a trade and for some reason they are missing the turrets.
Any suggestions on how to replace a turret either from scratch or an easy alternative?

With the new rules do you see a reason not to just make them hull mounted weapons?

The rules could change in future editions, so it would be best if you had a turret. I guess you could make one from plasticard and a bit of green stuff? 40k tanks have a low tech vibe so making a straight up metal box as a turret could look appropriate.

I have a Vanquisher I built with the gun in the hull and a sub-turret on top with its lascannon. You can opt to blank over the turret piece and do similar if you wanted.

That said, may be able to do something with the sponsons as a casemate style mount, possibly with a little plasticard. More expensive option: the turrets from the vengeance weapon battery fit the russ turret ring, and don't make half bad looking turrets.

forgeworld stuff is awesome too but both B&S and forgeworld suffer the same problem, theyre too dang expensive although B&S a little less so.

i found a turret from kromlech which is pretty decent. i may have to look into it but someone should tell those guys that the store pic does NOT do the actual model any justice.

Blood and Skulls has another turret design coming soon.. he said he'd be getting it into casting a little while back, must be having delays.

Just replace the turret really. It's still a plasma russ.
I run a mix of mechanicus and guard so i thought this might be a nice mash up to replace my lost turrets.

That's not a bad idea. Looks pretty cool. I'd do two things, though:

1. Remove the arms. Arms are for things with legs, more arms or Ork vehicles. They look like they have no function at all on the front of a Russ. They're too short to reach anything, and there is nothing to manipulate.

2. The turret makes the Russ look more techy, so I'd add a targeter to the top of each sponson like Marine vehicles have (Land Raider, Predator). No loaded with stuff, just so that all the high tech isn't concentrated on the turret.

I'd probably just scratch build myself a turret from plasticard using a gun from another Leman Russ.

If its going to be ad mech themed then you could always do an alternative turret like the cool swing arm off the Goliath tank

or even cooler the storm raven twin plasma top turret with a servitor hanging out inside. remove the glass and bend up a cage.
