So I've heard this topic is up for a lot of interpretation. My question is does shooting a unit of single wound models with a single shot from a weapon that has a damage characteristic of 3 kill 3 models or does one model get slain and the excess damage lost? Like does an Ork Rokkit Launcha that causes 3 damage per shot kill 3 tactical marines or just one? The argument comes from the section in the rulebook about damage not carrying over to other models from a single attack.

No, damage does not bleed over

Regular damage does not.

Mortal wound damage does

Thanks a ton just for responding, friends. Is there any text in the core rule book that you can point me to that would clear up this interpretation problem for other players in my local group. Just showing a screen shot of a couple of responses wouldn't be enough to convince a few other local players.

It is in "inflicting damage" in the resolving attacks section of the shooting phase. It is on page 181 of the main rulebook. The part about mortal wounds spilling over is right next to it in the black box about mortal wounds.
