Hello fellow Dakkas,

With the coming 8th edition I've decided to finally try my hand at Warhammer and have decided on these lovely 'Nids!
I'm still checking out the various hive fleets and have stumbled upon this whilst surfing the webbie.
I love the way the person did it, I'm not going to be copying his/her style but I wanted to ask if anyone here knows how it was done? I'm particularly interested on the skin and shell. And with what colour by chance?
First thing that came to mind was drybrushing..everything else is "???"

Cheers, gents. Any pointers is appreciated!

The skin/shell look like they are primed black and then drybrushed over (heavily). A gray followed by gray/white for the skin and purple/blue like Sombre Grey. (It depends on which brands you use as far as specific colors)

Its important to note that that particular model has a lot of texture to its carapace and skin that you dont get with regular plastic models, so you'd have to adapt it to those.

It's been drybrushed, but It's important to note for a model that size you're gonna want to use one of those big fluffy drybrush brushes that looks like a women's blush applicator. Otherwise you'll get uneven and blotchy looking brush strokes and it will look bad.

Also you'll want a light wash over the model to soften the drybrush effect and make it less noticeable.

Primed black, drybrushed and likely washed with some shade of blue or purple. Additional drybrush of grey and details picked out with fleshy tones.

I saw with eyes then young, and this is my testament.

I believe that the carapace colour is citadel The Fang.
