In your guys opinion what is the absolute BEST unit the orkz have that isn't an HQ unit or named unit?
Choose one unless you are split between several.
Ohh and please explain your choice
Automatically Appended Next Post:
I personally chose the Deff Koptas.
First, they get to appear on the board turn 1, fire off whatever weapon they chose to use, and then attempt a charge. This is really good, but then you get to the next best part about them, they have 4 wounds each!
Finally on your next turn you have 2 possible outcomes, the unit you charged fell back and you get a bit of dakka shot at you or that unit kept you locked in combat. So what do you do? you disengage or if they disengaged you then fly over that unit and drop your FREE Bombs on them which inflict mortal wounds on a Roll of 5+ These things are just amazing at defeating units with good saves and invul saves.

The Banner Nob is probably the best overall. He provides a great buff and can be useful in every type of army at a low cost. If only he could get a bike...

It's between either the WAAAGH banner or stormboyz for me on the list. As previously mentioned, the WAAAGH banner is just a huge force multiplier for our cc units and truly makes ork hordes terrifying. The stormboyz also got a big boost from their sheer speed and ability to potentially charge turn one and with all the different synergies now available to them they can really kick some arse.
I'm very surprised to not see ork boyz on here as I feel that they're the MVP of our entire army. The age of boyz over toyz is coming back I think.

wartraxx with rokkit packs. 6 wounds, T5 and 4 attacks and 4+ save. they get old outflank but choose the turn to come in and com ein where you want within 9 inches. rokkits are great str 8 ap-2 D3.
power level 4 power for 1 or 10 power for 3.
points wise it is 49 points per wartraxx plus 28 or rack of rokkits. 77 per model.
I would not recommend spamming them, but I would say they should find a place in most lists. I plan to run 2 as individual units in most of my listsfor some anti mc/tank

I went with Tankbustas, cuz, as usual they're just awesome. Throwing out all those S8 D3 shots is great!
But for most improved, I'd have to choose between: Buggies, Kommandos, and Naughts.

Can you explain that? From what I can see the Nauts got more durable but still suck at shooting. I have never run a Gorkanaut so I don't know if its any better in CC but from what I can see I would rather take a fist full of Kanz and a Dread instead.

yea, the models are not the best. personally I used the base mini, used a newer ork rider from a biker kit as the driver and a AOBR nob on the back then did little custom gun platforms using parts of a stompa ladder.

The Gorkanaut is a little more durable than 2 Dreads, and costs a little more than 2 of them. It has more shooting and better shooting for orks than the Morkanaut. It also has 18 S8 SP -2 D 2. Or 6 at S 16 Ap -4, D6 damage. So it has more offensive output than 2 Dreads (either 2 guns, or 6 attacks each, so 12 attacks max a S10 AP -3 3 damage) SO the Morkanaut is better against hordes in close combat than 2 dreads (significantly if they keep any shooting) it also is better against big monsters as it can wound even knights on a 2+

My favorite Ork unit is not on the list.
I miss the Looted Vehicle of yesteryear, where any "captured' enemy vehicle could be converted into an Orkified masterpiece of destructive mayhem.
Alas, my looted IG Demolisher tank will just have to continue sitting on the shelf, unless GW decides to reinstate Looted Vehicles in the next Ork codex (hint, hint!).

I miss Da Vulcha Skwad to be honest. It allowed you to field up to 3 units of Stormboyz as a single unit along with Zagstruk. Take 3 units each with a PK Nob and pow you have a 16 man unit rocking 5 Pks including Zagstruks legs. Have to field them separately but having Zag give a bubble buff will be easy enough to work around I suppose. Oh right, which do I think will be best? Boyz frankly. Blobs are where it's at as it turns out and I have 180 mixed Shoota, Choppa and 'Ard Boyz, so I think I'm set.

I think I read something about Forge World not including the Looted Wagon in their upcoming Index Xenos book either. I'm hoping that they gives us a lot more options for "counts as" with looted vehicles. Trukks and Battlewagons cover a lot, but there is definitely a gap in between them where a lot of looted Imperial vehicles seem to fit. The Gun Wagon might be a good option, but I don't think they make a model for it anymore.
It seems like GW could come up with a "Looted Wagon" kit that's just various sprues pulled from other kits and can be used to upgrade other models. Would that be enough to protect their IP?
Edit: I voted Banner Nob.

I love the topic because it helps a lot new Ork player like me.
I personally voted for Boyz because I think that for the points paid, full unit is super effective.
I know that the pool don't have so much votes yet, but I still was looking at it and can't agree more with
Two most voted units are Boyz & Waaagh Banner Nob
Other popular are:
Stormboyz - I can get why, with their mobility.
Tank Bustas - They look awsome, I havent played them yet, but on paper looks great
and
Nobz - ok so I have played them in my last 3 games. It wasn't that I have played them in large numbers, I still don't have enough models, but I just wanted to test them. I used them in Trukk and second turn engage, and I just cannot make them work...
I was trying them with cheap Kustom Shoota & Choppa build in two games, and in the last one i also give two of them Killsaw.
In all 3 games they didn't paid off, and I think it would be better to just drop them, but maybe I am using them not as I should?
So I am interested why they get so many votes (9%) and what I am doing wrong
10 Noobz is 170 points
Kustom shoota Is cheep I think and worth take for just 4 points which increase the cost to 210.
But what melee weapon you guys use?

Boyz. It doesn't matter if you go with hordes or troops embarked on transports, you need them.
Stormboyz are also quite improved but to be the best unit in the army you need 90 of them and no one has that many rocket boyz.

After a few games with orks i can say that our best stuff are boyz and stormboyz. Footslogging boyz have improved a lot. They're still easy to kill but they wreck face if they get there. Especially when you support them properly. Stormboyz haven't really changed all that much by themselves other than becoming 1 pt cheaper. But the game has. And they're GREAT now.
Kommandoes have also improved but i'd not call them good. They're ok as an element of an army.
Koptas and buggies are way too expensive and fragile.
Wierdboyz have improved significantly.
Nobz are probably a go-to unit for mech orks now. They've improved tremendously.
But our best stuff are boyz and stormboyz + support. Automatically Appended Next Post: Vasquez21 wrote:

You run them with powa stabbas, bigchoppas and free shootas. And add ammo runts to die for their sins.

I agree with a lot of that Kooaei but I like Deff Koptas still. It sucks that their shooting is so piss poor and that they aren't that great in CC but those Bombs, my god. I wiped out units of Space Marines with 3 Koptas. When I say Wiped out I mean WIPED OUT! My last game I flew over a Devestator squad and annihilated it with no saves allowed, that alone paid for the Koptas and then some, then they charged into CC against a Scout unit and wiped them out after shooting them with Twin Big shootas (18 S5 shots). So they are wicked fast and can be used for a lot of good targets, the only thing they absolutely suck at is vehicles.

I don't think that koptas are bad. I think they're just too expensive to be really good. But they're ok and you can certainly run a squad or two and they'll do fine. In fact, i suspect they'd deal more damage than bombers because they'll drop more bombs. And prime targets for mortal wounds rarely have >5 models in a unit. Koptas are also somewhat effective at tying up stuff. Which is so far the only real way of dealing with vehicle spam. You ain't killing those basilisks and razorbacks the moment you touch them. It's gona take a lot of effort now. But you can distract them from killing your more important units. Like boyz...who also run around tying up stuff. But boyz score maelstorm and that's what winning you games.
Anywayz, i have 3 aobr koptas and i don't regret having them. Unlike 15 meganobz and 4 trukks.

I don't see Grot Gunners on here; those bastards are damn survivable with their "Take Cover" rule; sneaky grots gonna keep the big gunz firing all day and night.
Plus the fact that there are so many squads; they can run for objectives or keep any group of gunz firing; you only need 1 grot per gun alive.
The best use I've been finding is if the gunz ever get caught up in combat, running a couple squads of gunners away so the guns deactivate, allowing the rest to fire back at the attackers, or open a hole for your army to counter attack through.
Sure, you lose some gunz and maybe some kill points, but it's been tactically worth it so far.

So the results are in and the answer, unsurprisingly is....Boyz.
Go figure the answer to all our ork dreamz is more, cheap, throwaway models that the enemy can mow down in droves .
Easy to buff though and scary when they are. With a Waaagh banner, a Weirdboy and Ghaz nearby a Unit of 30 boyz puts out 180 attacks hitting on 2s. so 150 hits. Against T4 thats 75 wounds, against T8 thats 25 wounds. Not bad. Put them under a Big Mekz KFF and give them Mad Dok and you have Boyz with a 5++ and 6+ Save. Not exactly durable but hey it is what it is. You can also field 60 Boy, a Big Mek with KFF, Ghaz,a weirdboy, Mad Dok and a Banner nob for 865pts. Like I said, they aren't durable in any way, shape or form but they have a chance to get to their target relatively intact and when they get their they each have 5-6 attacks EACH.
