I was just wondering how points work. I think I have it figured out now:

-A GK strike squad member as he comes loaded is 21pts (19+2 for storm bolter)
-A space marine terminator is 48pts (26 +20 for power fist +2 for storm bolter)
-An ork mega nob is 54pts (25 +25 for claw +4 for Kustom shoota)

Let me know if this is the correct way. Up until this morning, I've been thinking terminators and mega nobz were just dirt cheap at 26 and 25pts respectively.

If it also says they come with a bolter and you can swap it for say a meltagun you don't pay for the bolter then the meltagun its one or the other.

It reads weird to me, too, but this is correct.

So nothing comes equipped with weapons? I always have to add the points in?

yep, a lot of the time though basic weapons are 0pts

Yep, the points you see for the model are for its base stats and rules, not equipment.
An exception to this would be for unique / special characters, who have everything included in their points cost.

On the points charts it says either "Includes Wargear" or "Does not include Wargear" under Points Per Model - look for that to know for sure which models you need to add wargear to.
