So strict reading at the moment the units in the Forge World indices can't be used with any variant Chapters/Legions (since the phrasing in the Index is "if a <MAIN FACTION> unit does not appear on the list below, it cannot be from the <SUBFACTION> and cannot have the <SUBFACTION> keyword", and obviously the Forge World stuff isn't listed in the Index). Now there are places where this makes some sense (e.g. the "Thousand Sons" are Sorcerers and Rubric Marines, so they're not going to have Rapiers with random living non-psychic crewmen wandering about), but there are equally places where it's completely bizzare (e.g. the Death Guard can't have Greater Blight Drones because...why, exactly?)
Now the quick and easy approach would be to add "...or in a Forge World Index..." to the what-units-can-be-used-in-this-variant section, but that'd cause weird things like not letting the Deathwatch have normal Predators but letting them have Deimos Relic Predators. I'm thinking the First Founding Chapters/Legions should probably be allowed anything in their FW Indices (with caveats; e.g. the Thousand Sons can't have units with the Infantry keyword, and the Thousand Sons/Death Guard both need to be restricted to their gods), but I'm on the fence about what to recommend for the Deathwatch/GK. They should both probably have access to non-Relic Land Raiders, the Deathwatch probably need the Infernum Razorback and Thunderhawks, but the smaller Flyers are sort of odd given that both the Deathwatch and GK are already strongly associated with their own Flyer, and recommending the Deathwatch get all sorts of weird variant Dreadnaughts is strange when their own Dreadnaughts have such restricted armament.
Thoughts? Remarks? Comments? Which variants should have access to which toys?
