Easiest thing to do is get it in sheets from any office store. They sell it for people to mount to cubicle walls and stick things to. Its cheap and good for a lot of different modeling purposes.

You can get it at Menards or Walmart in a roll as well.

Its around 5 bucks, and its a good amount, so you can base a large army with it no probably.

Just have to tear it off in pieces, can add pieces on top of others to add depth. Something I learned from my brother, he used a file and you use it to blend the edge so that it's not so squared off. You can make it look like its not even a piece of cork by doing that.

Look up RaptoR1703, in his gallery he has some pictures of his Tau he used cork for the bases. Well give you a better idea of what I'm talking about.

to avoid breaking I would suggest smearing pva glue on it, I do this after the cork has been glueed to the base

These guys covered it... I use cork on all mine. Glue it down with super glue (it will absorb a bit so don't glue your hand down ).

Then I mix a little surface primer black, water, and PVA glue and slobber that all over the bases.

Staples is another place for cheap sheets of varying thickness.

If you get thin CA glue and douse it then your cork base will be neigh indestructible when it dries, much more so than PVA glue. Avoid inhaling the fumes though. This method will preserve the texture of the cork and really let you go to town with your drybrushing.
