As you may have noticed, 8th edition has turned the really badass (as a model at least) Visarch into an overpriced piece of junk. It's not as if it had awesome rules before, but he had some special things to justify him. Now he is an Autarch with a cool blade, two situational rules and no invulnerable save for Phoenix Lord cost.

Which Eldar rules do you think would fit him better (with or without conversions involved)? Do you already use him as a proxy or intend to do it in the future?

The most obvious ones are to use him as a bog standard Archon/Autarch. Give him a blaster/fusion gun and you are good to go.

For Drukkari he could work as Drazhar (he was initially rumoured to be him ) with little conversion work. He is not great but far more worth it than the original rules.

For Asuryani he could work as one of the Phoenix Lords: he has the stature and badasserie. Who could be the best candidate? I think Jain Zar and Baharrot are out. Fuegan and Maugan Ra would require extensive conversion. This leaves Karandras (with some conversion and a lot of imagination) or Asurmen, maybe the best fit overall.

What do you think?

Note: My worst fear is to convert the model into something else to have an Ynnari codex released in one year and give the Visarch great new rules

Just wait for the actual Eldar codex.

Lol. "Just wait for the codex". Favourite mantra. Game not holding up to standards without codex so now the mantra is "wait for the codex".

First it was "wait for 8th ed". Now it's "wait for the codex".

The point cost is indeed laughable. A troupe master is half the points, about as good in melee, and gives out a very powerful aura. I just don't understand how they came up with it. His abilities are utterly useless, you can't even find a very weird army build that could benefit from it.

I already painted him, so I won't be doing any conversion. And I don't like lazy count-as (when there's 0 effort to make it look like what it's supposed to represent), so I only see myself fielding him with the crappy rules.
The way I read the rules, he could be included in a non-Ynnari army (because he shares the Aeldary keyword, but there's a need for an FAQ on that point). So I'll probably add him to a harlequin-heavy army once in a while, especially when I play with people who field very weak lists.

Did I say the game was good? The OP stated "my worst fear is to convert...". So don't. Wait and see what his real rules are. How is that difficult to understand?

I don't want the model to be a glorified paperweight for several months without any guarantee we will get a real Eldar Codex including the Ynnari or that he will get revised, decent rules.
I guess if I end regretting a conversion I can go back or buy another one on Ebay.

Using the Visarch as an Autarch, for example, wouldn't be a lazy count-as. There is no reason why an Autarch couldn't wear such armor and similar weapons.
But I see your point.

For people willing to convert, magnets could help make it reversible.

One thing that may need explanation is that the Eldar moved away from that sort of armour after the fall, due to adopting asceticism to help keep away from Slaanesh. The Visarch cares not for asceticism as the end is nigh.

Nice fluff-fu Nothing a bit of home background can't solve. He can be an Autarch following the ideals of the Visarch (just not as overpriced as him
