Hello!
New here and wanted to start with a question......

Recently got into airbrushing and im getting paint splatter.
Didnt get it on the first model i did and i used tamiya paint. Tried Vallejo and got splattering so i went back to tamiya and got it there aswell.

I noticed there was alot of paint building up in the nozzle cap so i tried without it and the paint sprayed perfectly!
Im using a Sparmax Max-4 and have tried the normal cap and the crown cap but i get the same issues.
Wanna use the cap so i dont damage the needle tip so im trying to figure out why some of the paint gets stuck. Any ideas?

Can it be a bad needle, causing the paint to leave in an angle? making the paint his the side of the cap when leaving? sprayed dots on a paper and it looks like it comes out straight.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

Are you thinning your paints and if so, with what and how much?

Hello BiTTeRswede, I have found that tightening the lug on the needle sheathe cover makes sure that the paint does not splatter out. If the needle is damaged or bent it will need to be replaced because it will cause the paint to come out wrong. Make sure to tighten all sheathes covers, caps & nozzle covers all the way, then nothing should splatter.

If the paint is getting stuck, the brand of paint might not be Air Brush Painting friendly towards the brush if is get stays on the inside parts.

If You have access to Windex /w Ammonia D that should clean the air brush parts, but You will need to soak and clean the parts immediately. Also clean right away when changing colors. Once paint hardens on the inside parts You will have to get a more powerful cleaning solution to get the metal parts unclogged and stripped of all paint.

Tightened the cap, but do not tightened it so hard You need a vise script to loosen it off. If the needle is bent, damaged or bad in general I would recommend ordering a replacement part. Bad needles and loose caps will splatter the paint all over the place.

If You want a great Air Brush Complete Kit go to www.paascheairbrush.com.

Here is a link to a great kit that works in almost all climates.

Also, I second the comment that air brush paint requires correct thinning before being used.

Clean all the parts thoroughly & make sure the components are tightly secured on the air brush. I watched an instruction dvd video that came with my air brush & they said replace the needle if the out put is not spraying out correctly.

Thanks for the fast replies!

I sat for 2 hrs today trying different thinners, air preassure and amount of paint leaving the airbrush using the trigger stop function.
With Tamiya X im using their own thinner, same with vallejo.
i thought that it might be cause i set the air preassure to low and that it wasnt enough to push the paint out but got the same with all different settings. gonna order a new needle, just so im able to A/B test it. gonna order another crown cap aswell, the one with only 2 "wings" on it for easy needle cleaning. When i use the normal one, already afte ra cpl of seconds i can see like a drops worth of paint gathered inside the nozzle cap.

Tamiya Brand Air Brush Paint is My "go-to" air brush paint for priming ten or more models at a time. I have yet to get technical with doing complete paint work on single infantry models with an air brush.

The Air Brush kit that I linked is the one I have, it comes preset with a pressure value that I have not changed so far but everything on the set can be adjusted. I did not want to rock the boat with my set so I left everything at factory settings.

I recommend contacting the company for extra support because I only know of what I previously mentioned as to what to do.
