Maugan Ra's whirlwind of death rule says Maugan Ra can fire the Maugetar twice in each shooting phase.

If I cast word of the phoenix on him, can he fire it twice with the soulburst? Strength from death says : The unit can shoot as if it were your shooting phase..

What happens if Maugan Ra kills something in the shooting phase. Using the strength from death Can he fire the Maugetar 4 times in the shooting phase? Or does whirlwind of death stop this.

The "as if it were your shooting phase" means he follows all rules for the Shooting Phase. So he would be able to fire twice with Maugetar, kill something and then fire twice more with Soulburst.

I disagree with fragiles interpretation. The way I see it he can shoot a maximum of 3 times in the shooting phase, and I'm not sure if he would get the second shot in other phases though he probably would.

In his shooting phase it is pretty explicit. Whirlwind of death lets you shoot TWICE in each shooting phase, if you soulburst shoot either before he shoots at all or from his first round of shooting then by the whirlwind of death can come into effect he has already shot twice so it has no effect. If you soulburst after he has shot twice for a third shot then you can try and activate whirlwind of death again, but again he has already shot at least twice this shooting phase so it has no effect.

Edit: Actually thinking about it you could do soulburst shot, whirlwind shot then ordinary shot.
