Happy Sunday everyone

I have a question that has been bugging me and I'm getting mixed answers from my friends, so thought I'd cast my net wider and see what you guys all think!

My local GW store is having a painting competition to paint a model from the new starter set.

Not wanting to buy the whole set (neither army interests me) but still wanting to take part, I got a solo mini off an eBay seller.

If I enter this, would you consider this bad form as I didn't buy the model at the store holding the comp?

There is nothing in the rules saying the models needed to be purchased in store, and it is only bit of fun, so no prizes as such up for grabs.

Thoughts?

If I were the store owner I would just be glad that people join in and keep the store busy, there is always a chance that you might buy something you didn't plan to.

Others might say you are leeching of paying costumers.

If it bothers you I would say don't enter. That way you don't have to worry about it.
Better safe then sorry

I see no problem with entering what-so-ever.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

No matter how you look at it you're not doing anything wrong. You bought a mini you wouldn't have bought from the store anyway and aren't taking anything from the store.

Thanks guys

Personally, I am happy entering with the eBay model, but just thought it an interesting discussion point.

A lot of the paints I'm using were bought at the store, so I guess I'm still supporting it in a way.

Annoyingly, the last 2 painting competitions didn't go ahead due to lack of entries, so I think just getting models on the judging table will make the store Manager happy!

Thanks everyone for the input. If anyone else has another viewpoint (or wants to chime in with the same opinion) feel free to post.

Always good to hear everyone's views

GW got the money for the model in the long run. Yes it's good to support your local store but if they've previously had low turnouts it's not a good idea to skip this one if you're interested. That's support too!

I wouldn't feel bad not spending 90quid for a box when you only wanted one model in it.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page
