Example: Azrael gives models (not units) within 6" of him 4+ invulnerable save. Tactical squad nearby has 2 models covered by 6" bubble and 3 models outside of it. That tactical squad is fired upon by plasma weapons. Can it take 4++ saves since I get to choose which models took wounds? If so, and if I fail my saves what's preventing me from once again choosing different models to die and pick those outside 6" bubble.

Therefore, isn't wording of "all units within 6" and "all models within 6" functionally identical?

You allocate wounds to models before you make saves. You have to specifically allocate the plasma wounds to the models protected by his aura if you want to take invulnerable saves.

Yes, "models" and "units" have different meanings this time around. One affect specific models, the other means the whole unit benefits if one is in range.
