Look at those prices, either someone forgot to add a zero or gwis actively trying to crush every oother competitor into dust. Much approved

Have been saying for ages that GW's biggest problem at the moment is there's nowt lately you can go in and pick up for pocket money prices. Looks like they're rectifying that.

High Prices pushes people away
but Low Prices doesn't really pull people in

As in, when I'm thinking of picking up a miniature game. It's the fluff, rules, and feel of the game that will make me WANT to buy it.

The cost is what makes me decide IF I should or not.

but I've never said "I should start playing this game just because it's cheap."

Point is? It's a good move, but won't affect the competition too heavily. Other trends in this direction was increasing the cost of tanks in the game by 2-3x points. Thus requiring significantly less Tanks, thus significantly reducing the entry point into game.

I remember the old joke about Imperial Guard. "Okay, buy $500 of Guardsman and Tanks, and that should be enough for a basic tutorial game. Once you have 4x that much, we can play a standard game. "

6+ = 6/36 | Reroll 1s = 7/36 | Reroll Misses = 11/36 ||||||| 5+ = 12/36 | Reroll 1s 14/36 | Reroll Misses = 20/36 ||||||| 4+ = 18/36 | Reroll 1s 21/36 | Reroll Misses = 27/36

yeah I presume that are snap fit models with no options.

If you look at battle for vedros models

4 Ork boyz for ~$11
3 Space Marines ~$11
11 Gretchin ~$16

They have always had small cheap boxes of snap fit models from the starters (They had Termagants back in 4th). They just come with no upgrades. So if you want upgrades for them you need to buy the larger boxes.

hmmm... for a lot of people the #1 consideration is "how likely is it I will be able to find an opponent for this game." I have played a lot of fun minis games, but have no community for those games, and so never really invest in them. What cheap prices do is allow for games with communities to get new players in more easily. Sure if the game sucks no one will buy. But if a bunch of guys at the store are having a blast, and a new guy walks up and thinks it is cool, then goes and sees his buy in at $500+ just to get started, it is a big turn off. Especially if you don't really know if you will even like the game.

I'm amazed. GW has previously sold boxes of infantry for anywhere from £3 per model to £10.

And this being the new edition, they were due to do a price hike again.

£10.00 for 5 marines. That's similar to the big box games (DW:OK is 50 minis for £100.00), and starter sets. But now you don't have to buy the half you're not interested in!

I suspect the Easy to Build Intercessor will be 3 Marines, not 5. The Reivers are 3 for the same price, and if you look at the First Strike picture, you see two squads of 3 Marines, one Reiver and one Intercessor squad. I suspect that INtercessor squad is the Easy to Build kit for them.

Honestly with this and the various games in the works it looks like someone at gw read the emails I've been sending over the years about using the minis as cheap fodder to get people hooked and make bank on video games and movies

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Are the Intercessors and the Reivers really the same price but in one you get 5 models and the other gives you 3? Not complaining per se, I still might buy some Reivers for my NL, but the price does seem a little off.

max squad is 5 Intercessors. 3 in a box is kinda lame, but two boxes gives you 5 and a spare Sarge.

Intercessors are 5 in a box. It's Reivers that's 3.

But aren't the Reivers the cheaper scout Primaris equivalent? So more expensive for fewer models and less points.

The "Easy to Build" Intercessors are apparently meant to go with the "Getting Started" magazine and the "Getting Started" painting set. Both of which also include an "Easy to Build" Intercessor.

Interestingly enough though? The Intercessors in "First Strike" which look to be the "Easy to Build" variant seem to have two models which could be used as Sergeants, the unhelmeted model and the guy pointing with rifle upraised. Unless the guy with the upraised rifle is meant to be a special weapon equipped Intercessor.

god no. I'm assuming they deep strike/infiltrate like assassins and other units or get to move before the games begin. Also assuming str 5 and multiple attacks. They'll be cc specialists.

In other words they're scouts but green beret scouts not newbie space marine scouts

The miniatures you posted are full plastic sprue kits (that I think are overpriced).

These "easy to build" marines are just going to be single-pose, no options minis like those in the starter set. So they're like the Vedross boxes.

Yeah, I was bringing them up as an example where there isn't really relevance between points and price, as the poster above me stated, as they are 10 skitarii in a box for less than the 5 genestealers in a box.

The Acolytes/Metamorphs pricing was something many people didn't get. It's like Electropriests or the Fyreslayers. 32mm bases = prices above normal for whatever reason.

Do we have rules for the Reivers yet? I'd definitely buy some of them just from how cool they look. Would the rules be in the box, I wonder?

That First Strike box is amazing value if those prices are to be believed. I'f get one on pure principal even if I didn't particularly need the miniatures (and I really don't need more miniatures!)
