Couldn't sleep, so I decided to whip up a cool model that's been bouncing around my head since the Primaris marines were first shown. I'm a sucker for cool models, and while it pains me after converting and painting 15 normal wulfen just 4 months ago, the primaris marines are just too awesome. On the plus side, now they fill out a 40mm base, so I won't need to worry about my Wulfen on incorrectly sized bases (nobody has complained, but it's always a concern when I play the army). Also, the actual plastic Wulfen arms fit much MUCH better on the Primaris bodies with only a little putty to fill gaps. Some of the regular sized Wulfen conversions I made used Spellcrow resin arms while some I had to cut down the plastic wulfen arms, neither was ideal. The pose on the new conversion looks much more natural as well since the Primaris models are mostly striding forward, helps give the Wulfen much more of a sense of movement than the old conversions. The Wolf Guard was a test mini, simple headswap (spellcrow resin head) and a plastic SW shoulderpad. Other models going forward I may or may not carve down the imperial eagle on the shin but I'd definitely replace the belt shrine with a wolf tail. Don't want to go overboard, I like my SW looking like grey marines with only the occasional wolf bit

They looked so cool until I did a side by side :( Poor little guy's going in the closet very, very soon

Primaris Wolf Guard and poor, tiny Ragnar conversion

Very cool model! The arms/head match the primaris model perfectly.
The only problem is that it doesn't look like a fast-moving, light-armored model anymore, and more like a guy that moves slowly while tearing stuff apart (which is cool in itself, but doesn't match the rules).

Looks awesome man, hes not coming off that base without a fight though.

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.

The new reivers might be a even better base for wulfen as their armour is not as bulky.

Ugh, the current Wulfen are still beyond terrible. Nice conversion, but...ugh.

Nah, don't think the Reivers would work, their armor is "less bulky" but in odd ways, like the wierd shin greaves that look like like reivers wear sneakers and shorts. They're also in more static poses than the regular Primaris guys. Besides, the entire reason for the conversions is because the plastic Wulfen look so odd, they're supposed to be regular Space Wolves that succumbed to the gene-seed mutations and got a bit more feral looking, they're still regular marines. If i do move all my Space Wolves over to Primaris conversions then they'll fit right in, even if they don't match the "super sleek and fast" look as much, I prefer they look like bestial Grey Hunters. Glabro form marines, if you're familiar with the Werewolf RPG.

hes not coming off that base without a fight though

Yeah, I use plastic weld whenever possible on figures. Luckily nobody is getting rebased. The old, smaller wulfen conversions will maybe get ebayed and the new ones will go on 40mm like the ctual plastic wulfen do. Ragnar...well, I'm not sure about Ragnar. That conversion was super easy, plastic headswap onto Crom's body, add a banner, add the kraken-tooth sword from the upgrade kit and done. A Primaris conversion is doable, but going to take a lot more work to get the pelts and belts and other stuff

Still needs a unit decal and some grass tufts on the base, but he's done enough for the moment. Got some more buddies on order for him
