so far I keep seeing take the dark talon over the jetfighter, but I'm not sure that's the best option in my RW army. The dark talon is excellent for sure, but what I'm finding is that the RW lack a ranged punch to knock down transports. Either you're using melta up close, or plasma blasting things to death. Either way, the occupants of transports are then in the best position to assault or deal damage to the units that destroyed their transports, taking away the initiative from the ravenwing. D-scythe wraiths are a prime example exiting wave serpents.
The Typhoon offers a decent ranged option but I think is overpriced (145pts) for a pair of krak missiles. The nephilim offers 2 lascannons and 2 blacksword missiles at decent range (barring the minimum movement distances of course) and a pair of them offer a solid ranged option for ravenwing, although at substantial cost.

Other options are going outside of ravenwing to bring ranged options (a "ravenwing" dreadnought with twin las/ML for example)

Live a little, take a Stormraven, you'll get the las, missiles and melta you need and still keep the hurricane bolters.

Until you get a real Codex, you got nothing to lose by going plain <IMPERIUM> and taking whatever you want. It just won't get to re-roll 1s from your commander and such.
