So I recently unearthed a bunch of Ork models that I purchased probably 8 or 9 years ago and want to make a list with the new edition. My list making skills are what I would call "infantile", so I could use some help making a fun 8th list. I've watched a plethora of battle reports, and already have a literal bucket of dice so now I wanna see what I can make using the models i have plus whatever else I'd need to get. Here are the models i have:

Badrukk
Weirdboy
Between 2-3 boxes worth of Boys
Box of Lootaz
1 Trukk
6 Bikers

I have a few models I'd like to use that I do not own just because of cool factor:

Deff Dredd
Any of the jets
Big Meks and/or Mega Nobz
Gorkanaught

I'm pretty open to suggestion, I just like the Mekz and vehicles and such a lot for Orkz. I want to keep it around 1500 simply because of finances. I'm more so looking for a rough idea so I can hammer down what to buy first. I haven't played in many years so I apologize if I'm foggy on things. I appreciate any help, thanks folks!

Can we get some exact numbers on the Boyz and Lootas? They only work well beyond a certain critical mass.

WeirdBoyz are fantastic for helping footsloggers get up to the fight due to Da Jump, putting them in a unit of 30 boyz means that while it will take a perils when you jump, it'll always work and let you get right up close. The only problem is that you can't bring a warboss with you unless you bring a 2nd weirdboy, but the ’Ere We Go! rule means that not only can you bring the boyz to 9" of a juicy target, you can re-roll the charge result too!

I have roughly 25 boyz and 5 Loota/Burna. All of these are still unassembled and in the box. I had purchased them years ago with the intent to make an army but life got in the way. I really love the weirdboy model, this ones metal which is neat. I'm basically just looking for a general list that incorporates some of the stuff I have, but doesn't have to be all of it. I'm most likely getting the start collecting box for orks next week as well, so I'll have the deff dread and such from that too (I'm blanking on what exactly is in it for some reason).

Also to add, I do want to do something with the vehicles and tank busters or something, not as much as green tide. I do love the thought of 86 attacks, but I want more than just that. I especially love those Jets, look like they'd be super fun to build and paint.

- Badrukk is mediocre but playable - i'd still avoid the gits as they're pretty overpriced. Take all 3 ammo runts.
- Wierdboyz are great if you have a lot of footslogging boyz. You can easilly take more than 1 in horde lists and they'll be good.
- Boyz - you can't have enough of those. I'd go for a couple 30-man squads and the rest 10-man min squads just to fill troop slots. You can now mix shootas and choppas in a single squad which makes them a tiny bit better.
- Lootaz are very fragile and pretty expensive but playable. Go for min squads if slots allow.
- Trukk is an ok transport. Especially for tankbustas. But some people have had success running burnas and nobs in there. Boyz are not the best pick for a trukk now cause transports have gone up in cost significantly and you want something more frightening in there.
- Bikers are ok. Not cheap and are afraid of multi-wound weapons. But they're really fast. Go for multiple 3-man squads with boss nobs. This way you can have ld7, 1 more wound and better mellee - all for free.

- Deff Dredd has become better this edition but not really all that amazing. It's ok nevertheless. Just don't take rokkits. And don't expect it to tank all the shooting. Multi-damage weapons will take those 8 wounds away real quick.
- Jets are, once again, not damaging enough but any variant is passable now.
- Big Meks with kff are decent. Especially with mech lists or walker walls. They can effectively shield stuff and fix your vehicles. So, overall, they aren't bad.
- Mega Nobz - some people say they're ok. Personally, i've been disappointed with how they performed in 8-th compared to 7-th bully boyz. And i have 15 manz atm. Not sure i'm gona use more than 5. One thing we know for sure - klaws are worse than killsaws vs anything with 3+ save or better. Kombi-rokkits are the worst pick - even for killing vehicles point-for-point. K-skorchas are decent but expensive.
- Gorkanaught is ok. Especially when you have a kff mek nearby. It's shooting is really bad for points but mellee and overall durability are nice. Load something like nobz, burnas or 3 manz inside and advance forward. Fix it with your big mek. Crush stuff in mellee, make pot-shots with your mediocre guns but don't expect to actually shoot something down too often.

What would entail a mech list? I like the sounds of it. I'm not super concerned about if its going to be tournament worthy or anything, just something cool I can run at 1500. I've been scouring for some sort of 8th Ork list but most of them are the green tide style.

War Boss -Kustom Shoota/Power Klaw/Attack Squig
Big Mek -Big Choppa/Kustom Force Field
8 Nobz -8 Big Choppaz
26 Boyz + Boss/Big Shoota/Power Klaw (Boss)
Deff Dread - Scorcha/3 Dread Klawz

I found this list a few days ago and tweaked it a tiny bit with friend input. Its around 1k points. If i boosted up the boys, brought in a battlewagon with roller, a jet or 2, and/or a gork/mork, would that work out well? I'm going off an old edition of the ork codex (6th I think) which I'm sure is way off but I haven't gotten Xenos 2 yet.

So the girlfriend surprise ordered me the start collecting box. So now I have a Deff Dread, 11 more boyz, 5 nobz I think, and a painboy. Woo!

I think multiple Deff Dredds, getting cover from Killa Kanz (who can always advance and shoot so they wont slow the Dredds down) should be solid right now. Throw in a KFF Mek on a bike to give the Kanz a bit of suvivability and you've got one half of a solid 2 punch combo.

One the other side I'd go with a Battlewagon with 15 Lootaz and another mob of 5 for good measure to take out vehicles and such.

Then the other part is Boyz mobz to get in and get tha job done!

I just watched a battle report with a list like this and a Gork. The Gork basically won the game for him while the kill cans just swarmed people. His Big Mek went down early but the Gork pretty much had the fight in turn 4.
