I cannot explain the intensity of the disdain I have for almost all acronyms. I think it comes from my job; the company I work for has some bizarre fetish for acronyms of all kinds, almost none of which actually make communication any clearer. In fact, after the bitter pessimism that generally pervades here, I think its penchant for acronyms is my least favorite thing about Dakka. Besides, acronyms are the refuge of military people who think they are cool and lazy high school teenage girls.
