Subject: Roboute Guilliman - Foot slogging?

So, as the titles inquires: can Mr G only really foot slog his way up the table? I can't really find any transport in the index that could transport him, since he is a Monster keyword, not infantry. I mean he has an 8" move, and if he advances he can probably cover some ground pretty quickly, but is there any nice infantry to back him up in that case? Since he moves faster than most, he would leave them behind and be open to fire..
My planned list is all Primaris marines, with some regular Marine vehicles to support them (a dread or two, and some flyers). The marines he are foot slogging with get many nice buffs, yes, but if he wants to get into CC ASAP he will need to advance, which puts in out of range of his Marines if they can't keep up, or if they are shooting stuff with all his nice buffs.
Is anyone using Guilliman at the moment, and how are you fielding and protecting him? It feels like he wants some sort of deep strike, but he has no such rules.

From what I've seen, Guilliman is being a used a lot in gun lines. Giving out his tasty buffs then when your opponent gets close to your lines he makes them wish they wernt and gives them a bit of a kicking.

yeah I'd use GHulliman for gunline support, if you want a mobile buffer, you might be better off taking Calgar instead, less buffing, but easier to transport

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two |

Yeah I've seen some lists with gunline Guilliman, especially with many Razorbacks.
However I want him for his amazing CC potential, not just a static buffer. Maybe a slowly advancing gunline with Mr G at the center that maybe gets in CC on turn 3. Flyers could flank and take care of the backline while they advance.
Could be cool. I like his model (I guess I am one of the few) and his rules are incredible, so I really do want to field him. Will probably go buy the box today, and try some different styles out.

A dreadnought centered list might work for an advancing gunline.

I have my Leviathan on the way, and I am really looking forward to those new Primaris dreads, so that could be a cool list. Will definately check on that

That's what I was going to suggest too. Contemptors can keep up with him. They'll be able to do a bit of good with their kheres cannons on the way in too.

Could also run with Mortis Contemptors, with two autocannons each, or lascannons for anti armour. This could be a fun list, dreads stomping around with Mr G, with some flyer support, and some Marines to grab obejctives. Good times

Suddenly I feel the urge to get me more contemptors, the single one I have and his 9" move has served me really well so far!

If brute force doesn't solve your problem you're not using enough. |

+1, in addition, I would also bring 3 squads of Hellblasters, super charge their 30inch plasma weapons all the way marching upfield. Even with the speed creep between them and the Primarch, they should be able to do so for 3 turns

I like Acolythes more way cheeper plasma with a little bit less range and I think they are a little better suited for heavy fire combat as they have more wounds. But Hellblaster are quite good I think as they draw fire from my oponens more often then the acolyths.
I teamed RG with Celestine yesterday. Both clashed in a Line of Tyranids with 2 Squads of Primaris Marines and devastated a Tocicrane, some warriors, a squad of Gaunts and Celetine gave the HiveTyrant some hard blows (I lost nothing).
we are still in experimentingphase in my LGS, but I think RG is exellent in all aspects of Warfare. I will make him my senior Master of Ordinance!
