Hi!

So, 8th Edition finally dragged med into this game and I've started collecting a Skitarii army (who doesn't love cyborg Marsians?). I'm wondering about the squad markings and symbols of the Skitarii. The robes have the specific Forge World-symbol and a squad number... But what about the small symbol in the corner? Does Dunecrawlers follow the same rules as infantry?

What does the fluff say about Skitarii symbolism and how do I apply my transfer the "right" way?

Thanks!

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Could you post a picture of this "small symbol" so we can see what you're talking about?

Ah, sorry!

This model wears the Alpha Skull symbol, the squad number, and a small symbol on the right side of the squad number - what's the significance of that symbol?

Moscow, Russia

It's just a letter sigma, of the sort used to indicate a variable.

It's part of their math worship.

Actually, they seem to be Maniple Designators (found them detailed in White Dwarf 61). A maniple is, to me, a very blurry, archaic term; how does this fit into the 40k universe and how would one go about using them when building a Skitarii Army. I'm guessing using the same maniple on every alpha would be a safe bet but I could be mistaken.

Here you go (from the 7th Edition Skitarii Codex)

From the bottom text you can assume a single maniple (as denoted by the Sigma on the model you posted) is one of the 8th edition detachments. Your entire army will then make up a single War Cohort (unless it's huge), and this is displayed on the Dunecrawlers (as well as the maniple denotion).

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)
