Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

So I'm going to buy a Khorne Terminator conversion set to make some new Khorne Termies but I am not sure on which set to buy because I don't know what is on the sprues (won't show on GW's website). I am equipping them all with combi-plasmas and power fists (although I might magnitize for power axes as well). I know the SM kit comes with enough power fists and I know the CSM comes with enough power axes but which comes with more combi-plasmas?

The space marine kit just has storm bolters, no combi-weapons.

The Chaos ones have a Combi-flamer, some combi-bolters and a combi-melta, no combi-plasma.

Combi-plas is not a thing loyalist terminators can take. Their kit comes stock with storm bolters and power fists, along with a power sword for the captain, a heavy flamer, assault cannon, and missile launcher.

Its a fairly old kit too, unless someone has anything to say otherwise I'd wager the chaos termie kit is the superior one.

Combi-weapons are only on the Chaos Terminator sprue
Loyalists only get Storm bolters

Also if memory serves the Chaos terminators only come with 3 power axes

Buy a set of Legion combi-weapons from forgeworld, gets you 5 of each type.

Also google image search is your friend, it took me 2 seconds to find a sprue image of the terminator kits.

I'll take a look at that, thanks.

I did google the sprue but I have never bought the SM kit before so I don't how many sprues there are supposed to be or whether the pictured sprue was an old set or an assault termie set, etc.

Is there a Khorne Terminator conversion kit, even?

I only know of the World Eaters space marines conversion kit.

Forge World used to sell one but it is now OOP. Only the Power Armour kit is still for sale.

With a bit of searching I found an American company that still sell the FW upgrade kit.

Both kits are ass for what you're trying to do.

I would instead recommend the SW terminator kit. Khorne has a Wolf motif and that one actually comes with some decent weapon options (although still only one axe). You're still boned on the combi-plasma though, I don't think they ever made a Terminator set with one of those weapons (not even the Chaos Terminator Lord has it).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

For what you want to do, go for the Cataphractii Terminator kit and FW bits. That'll work out best for you I think.

Why are the SW weapon options better than the chaos?

The cataphractii kit wouldn't work with the conversion kit I'm buying.

I understand this.

I'm suggesting NOT buying the conversion kits and going instead for the Cataphractii. The flat surfaces that they have for their shoulderpads lend themselves easily to transfers and freehand.

HISSSSSSSSS!

I'm not too great at free hand and I really like the FW conversion set. Besides, the Cataphractii set doesn't really have anything more than the CSM set (I can cut the chainsword part off of the Chainfists and if there still isn't enough I have a few other Powerfists lying around).

I would probably skip out on the chaos terminator kits and go for the loyalist ones. I recently purchased the chaos set and the sculpts are pretty bad and not fun to paint. The details kinda fade out randomly on the body. I'm sure the loyalist models look a lot better.

Both Loyalist and Chaos kits are from the same general timeframe. Both suffer from old molds.

You do realise it's probably going to be dodgy quality recasts right? Considering FW don't make it anymore.

Maybe, maybe not. I've bought recasts before and most of them have been just fine.

actually cataphracti raises a point though, you could alternatively get this set here https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/World-Eaters-Legion-Red-Butchers and maybe I dunno do some converting, get some of the GK wrist mounted storm bolters and put those on. could look pretty bad ass.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Do you like those models? They look a bit too much like a child pretending to be a plane to me. Also why cataphractii? What's wrong with getting regular terminators and converting with this: http://all4wargames.com/product/world-eaters-terminators-conversion-set/? The only trouble I was having was finding weapons not bodies.

IMHO both look good, so it's ultimately what you wanna go with, I'm just pointing out alternatives. because great ideas get my mind working ;D

one big question of course is how easy that one there is to convert.
