I received the Xenos codex for Forgeworld and obviously i was so happy to read all of it.

In my opinion, the monolith and the Pylon are the most iconic model for this army (Crons) and now i feel they are back in the game.

I mean Macro 1D6 shot Strenght: 16 AP: -4 D: 1D3+6 120" of range. Nowhere to hide for all of these super-heavy.

And 475 point for this? Why the heck i would take a Tesseract Vault Toughness 7 ( Pylon=8 ) and 28 wound (Pylon=30) without invulnerable save ( Pylon=5++ )?

Let's get back to our main subject, what do you think about Macro Weapon?

I think they found a way to renew the Strength D as it was in the 7th. Pretty strong on Huge model, worthless against infantry.

The more I read about FW rules the less I want to play against FW. We have gone back to FW making super broken rules, that seem to have no playtesting.

I mean the ability for it to basically 1 shot things that cost significantly more than it is kind of dumb. I mean it is min 7 damage. So 14 against super heavies. So a 1k point ork stompa can get killed by 3 shots (which it can easily get).

This thing is basically auto-kill on any vehicle or monster for 475 points. I think that is pretty dumb design, especially since it cannot even be tied up in combat.

I agree with Breng77, it seems very OP for the points. A loaded out Baneblade is around ~700 points and this thing can wipe it out easily.

Fw most stuff either seems balanced or straight up worse than normal that being said the pylon is am exception.

It has a damage out out compared to a 1000point model yet costs less than half that it's capable of obliterating any single model short of a reaver titan in 1 shot and on average will down a knight a turn.

Are fw rules balanced I think so yes are most macro weapons balanced I think so yes. Most factions only unlock them at about 1500 points on a single model. (Warhounds for imperium and chaos 1.5k, phantom for all of aeldari 2.4k, heirophant for tyranids 1.9k, orks don't even have one) the only factions that break this very high points barrier are tau and necrons. Tau had the tiger shark which raw can't even shoot so that's a problem for another day their next access is at 1.2k. Necrons for some reason got one for less than the cost of a knight, I couldn't tell you why and it honestly really shouldn't be one it has a damage range from 7-9 which is insane and vs titanic does 14-16 per a single wound.

Again I would like to reiterate fw seems to be balanced or underpowered on most things but the pylon is an exception and looks to powerful. If it was 700 points it would be more reasonable.

FW's recent rules releases have been... less than stellar.

Some of hteir units are literally unusable. So... I'd wait...

Pylon and other examples aside, macro weapons are meant to be used against other macro weapon platforms (titans, etc.) so although there's nothing in the rules that says so, you are quite a tosser for using macro weapons when your opponent isn't.

In Apoc though hey, everyone can go crazy.

What is the point of fielding super-large models that cost a small fortune in both points and real cash if they are going to be annihilated in one round?

Most models in standard 40k cannot reliably one-shot themselves, but almost all Titans can.

FW never went crazy with D weapons, that was Gdubs lol

but your absolutely correct on your second point!

I see the Pylon being banned pretty much everywhere. One of those things where you don't even need to play test it once to know how broken it is.

Most everything else I've seen in the FW books is either fine or maybe even undertuned, but the Pylon... Who the hell thought that was acceptable?

Wait, what? Banned? For what? Did you see how lackluster the Necron LoW options are? 500 pts for a piece of crap Tesseract Vault? It can't melee for sheeet, it shoots AP- shots, and has to target the closest unit for a couple of MW hits. What's Necron's next best option for a LoW? Obelisk? Gimme an f'ing break.....

Seriously guys, the Pylon targets ONE unit at long range, and a second unit at 3" with spitball shots. Get over it. Is ANYONE looking at the Eldar and SM LoW options in comparison? The damage potential of these other factions is ridiculous. Don't make me start spelling out the math on other LoW units. They'll all get banned. Any tourney that bans a Gauss pylon should be protested.

What's so special about Necron anti- tank options? Do you realize how bad it is? We have deathrays with d3 shots that are hitting on 4's from Doomscythes, we have Exile cannons and pylons hitting on 4's if they arrive from DS, we have severely overpriced Hvy Destroyers at 75 pts a model just to get an f'ing las cannon. And our melee options are crud too. Sure lots of S7 options to play with, but to get S8 what do we have? Anrakyr? Fleshbane from the Nightbringer? Where's our knight equivalent?

These threads infuriate me. All knee jerk reactions. No one looks at the big picture. You want something to complain and moan and groan about? Go take a look at the Relic Falchion and the Vampire Hunter. Those models are pumping out up and over 144 dmg with a single weapon! And it's not even a Macro weapon! No way GTFO of here!!!! And guess what? these models can even target more than ONE unit with a good weapon! NO WAI!!!??? Compared to what? The pylon doing 54 dmg to a non-titanic, and potentially 108 vs titanic. I'm not going to even mention the slew of other LoWs that pull over 100 dmg potential with a single weapon and have tons of force multipliers for their faction outside of just infantry buffs.

I hope FW does an errata giving the Gauss Pylon even more weapons.....

The Tigershark AX-1-0 is way better than the Pylon and costs only slightly more and thanks to the FW email faq can shoot its macro weapons and it gets two of them. 120inch Str 18 -5 2d6 each wound roll of 6 made on this adds d3 mortal wounds (macro) two shots because of its two weapons. It's only 583 points on a very survivable platform. IN low points games I give the edge to the Pylon since it's so cheap it can be fit in smaller games easier. All I need is one ML on the pylon and the Tigershark is hitting on 2+ with rerolling 1's. Basically the majority of the time both of it's weapons will hit.

True lol. I'm signing up for my local tournament for the opening day of the global campaign and asked if I could bring a Ta'unar to the 2k game and they said yes. Hahaha. Well they asked for it. I imagine all FW titan scale super heavies will be banned soon because they are meant for larger games. They think I'm going to lose. Even if I do it will be worth it just to see my master piece on the field that took me half of this year and it will be done in a week.

There are one or two players lingering from the days when all Tau were banned. I have some payback to dish out.

I love the fact that GW made these options available. With lesser models,on the table games go quicker and with lesser models on the table it's easier for new players to buy into the game. Plus some of the models are absolutely gorgeous.

I think Macro could have been done better, something like doing mortal wounds, but a penalty to hit anything that isn't titanic and a second stacking penalty for being fired from something that isn't titanic.

Strong enough to chop down the big stuff, but less efficient against small stuff.

I think they're not ideal on a flyer (that doesn't have hover mode).

I trully think that Necron needed this one since some LoW are really strong and hard to kill such has SoS (Slayer of souls). I have one friend the field it every game and its a bit hard to handle near the changeling. But Pylon hit on 2+ (+1 against Fly unit) So even with the changeling it is still a 2+.
