Tryna figure out how to convert for the FW artillery batteries. I was thinking just getting a bunch of Armageddon pattern basilisk turrets and just set them down haha. I don't know what to use as platforms. Anybody own any of those Basilisks and know the dimensions?

Maybe try the platforms from military models? A WW2 88 flak of the right scale would have a big base with various bits you could use

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

I measured my FW resin oop basilisk platform and the diameter of each set of 2 crosspieces is 8.5 inches across.

There's some toys that would work.

It's a tad larger than an Earth Shaker but no reason it can't work. I think it's retailing for like $75 though.

There's been a lot of people who have taken the 1/35 SFh-18 15cm howitzer for Earthshaker Carriage counts-as. The 88's too small, but you can quite easily pair up most of the 15cm, 152mm, 155mm guns as Earthshakers. To prove the point, I've got an Armageddon Bassy where I cut off the original boring barrel and fitted the ML-20S gun off an ISU-152. Note - this was not the plastic barrel off the model, but a replacement metal upgrade barrel.

So I just bought five 88mm 1/32 german flak guns... So I should cut off those short barrels and buy some 15cm or 155mm and fit them on?

There's nothing that says it HAS to be 15cm/152mm/155mm barrels, it's just the typical conversions that get used for the role.

End of the day, Rule of Cool on a conversion.

Yes of course, I do want them to look cool. What is the diameter of those barrels? I just wanna make sure they'll fit decently and not look awkward and wonky. And the other issue is, I saw a bunch on ebay and they are metal barrels, not sure if they gonna hold/stick up right on these plastic 88mm.

At its thickest, the barrel on my Basilisk is 10mm, that's measured at the base of the barrel, the spot right before the rounded curve where thickness goes up sharply.

Oh, as to the metal barrels, they hold up just fine in the fittings, because what you're looking at is CNC machined aluminum and brass, rather light metals.

Ebay. Search "Marx 88mm"

The other option is using a LRBT Vanquisher barrel. Maybe I'll try both ways and see which fits best.

Ok the 88mm just came in, very good sizing comparison! At its thickest the 88mm barrel measures 12mm, whats the diameter of those 15cm or 155mm metal barrels?

They would be quite similar, the one on my Basilisk is the 152mm barrel of the ML-20S on an ISU-152, which is also the same gun on the ML-20 towed howitzer.
