Hi all.

I have mostly metallic minis ready to seal. I have eye dropper bottles of matte, satin and gloss. I am about to seal my 1000 Sons scarab occult terminators. I plan on brushing matte on their tabards and robes though first I planned on airbrushing either satin or gloss over all.

The models are a metallic blue, gold, silver mostly with nuln oil gloss and white tabards.

I am thinking gloss but wanted other to weigh in.

Also does anyone seal their bases?

Do a trial first on a test mini - so if it does not come out correctly you know ahead of time.

There are hundreds of posts on varnishing - some searches may help.

The gloss will help with the metals, unless they are super shiny (like what you get with lacquer metallics).

I varnish most of my minis, but unless the base is thematic (on a glassy rock base?) I don't varnish them.

I actually test my paint work not on a mini, but the underside of a base to get a good look at it.
