So many Tzeentch players have caught onto using units of 1 Blue horror + 9 Brims as their troops spam.
These units are very cheap, can Smite (albeit only on 1 dice) and are surprisingly resilient with a 4++. Add the Changelings' -1 to hit Aura and you've got a sturdy force to take objectives.
But instead of spamming 6+ units from the start, how viable is it to use Daemonic Ritual to 'recycle" your models as they die.
This is primarily a way to not have to own 60+ actual Brims, but still be able to field that many.
I'd take the minimum 3 units for a Battalion, then fill the rest of the list with Daemon Princes, Flamers, the Changeling, Belakor, possibly Magnus and a Heldrake, leaving enough Reinforcement points for 2-3 more units of Horrors
If it isn't an objective game, I can use those points on other stuff, like more Flamers or an Exalted Flamer, or Burning Chariot. Or Belakor could summon Daemonettes or Bloodletters
Once the flying monsters move forward, the changeling doesn't have much need to move forward (as he is unlikely to catch up with them) and thus he can summon in more horrors
Or, once the DPs get into combat, they can summon since they won't be moving anyway. this could even be a good way to get a unit of Horrors on an objective
So do you think this is a viable tactic, or should I just shell out the cash to buy all the models to put on the table from the start?

What's the reason for the 1 blue horror? Why not a pink?

I think this is sound. Obviously only if you aren't using the horrors to fulfil troop slots. And you need a decent summoned, lime the Maelific lord guy.
Pinks cost more than blues but aren't particularly better.

Well to get the command points you need to have them in the list so not summoned
They go 1 blue to be cheep me I go one pink and then some blues and brims to keep costs down

yeah, I would take at least 3 units to fill the troops slots for the main detachment, leaving at least 100pts to summon multiple units as the models I field die. Or in rare cases, I could summon 10 'Nettes or 10 'Letters using Be'lakor
I might also try to make it so that only Horrors can be shot on turn 1 as they rest of the army would be <10W characters, except maybe Magnus, a Heldrake and some Flamers (which will try to deploy out of LoS).
Oh, and Pink Horrors are not good if you are using Points. 2 Blue horrors are statistically better and you only need 1 Blue per unit. And Split isn't good either. Why pay for 1 pink and 2 blues, when I could pay for 4 blues for the same cost and get 1 more 4++ wound? Or just use those 20pts for 10 Brims?
Although, in Power level games, Pinks are absolute gold since they cost the same as Brims and Split is free.

But Pinks are the only ones that can take icons/instroments, so if you are only looking for one to go with the 10 man brims...

Icons are garbage (especially for Horrors since you can literally get a whole separate unit for the cost of 1 Icon) and Instruments are best for melee units, which Horrors are not Overall I am trying to maximize the models I own without getting a ton of them, and also get some use out of Daemonic Ritual, which is disappointing at best. -

Just enquiring, I don't run Horrors myself. (A horde unit that I am not obliged to run directly into my opponants firing line? No thank you! )

I've been playing my horrors that way. I've really liked it. Having summoning points left over means your you can apply those points to where they are needed.

I actually think you should take 2 Blue horrors per unit. It's only 3pts more and you can put 1 Blue on each flank of the unit, giving you more options to Smite
Smite has to target the closest unit, but you get to pick the model casting it (and thus the model to measure from to see what enemy unit is the closest)

I like where your head is at with this. Shame I have more Pinks than both blues and brims. Seems like you would have enough characters to summon too - that was my initial concern then I read it again.
