I can't find a use of raptors which sucks because I play Blood Disciples which have a lot of raptors.
So they suck in melee, 4 chainsword and a power weapon wont do much, a raptor is the same cost as a beserker with a chainaxe which is vastly superior.
There are special weapons, 2 flamers wont do much and is outclassed by a squad of 5 CSM which are cheaper, 2 plasma isn't bad but I can't see 2 men being effective with it and meltaguns are just bad, a 1/2 chance to actually get through a land raider and even then you wont do much damage.
Is there actually a use for them and i'm just being pessimistic? I can see having 2 plasma guns as like a reinforcement when a battle is going sour between 2 units.

Deep strike harassment. A squad of 5 deep striking Raptors totally saved me in my last game, able to engage a bunch of cultists guarding an objective at the far end of the field and take it for their own.

My opponent, on the other hand, had three squads of 5 Raptors loaded up with Plasma weapons and did a lot of damage on the drop, and were generally a nusiance.

Theyre cheap, can get multiple special weapobs in a 5 man squad, and can land next to the enemy on demand. They have their utility.

And They Shall Not Fit Through Doors!!!

Remember that the champion can take a combi-weapon, and that combi-weapons don't run out of shots anymore. So you can stick 2 plasma guns and 1 combi-plasma in a single 5-man squad and put it 9" away from anything you don't like. This sort of small plasma team clocks in at a reasonable 126pts--taking a couple of them could actually be really great for getting rid of scary units. If they're being used in a 'most definitely suicide mission,' then you can overcharge them and potentially erase something big.

Unfortunately, I don't think they're that great in melee anymore, but 126pts for a laser-guided plasma bomb that can rapidly redeploy if it survives to the next turn seems pretty solid as far as shooting goes.

Also, if you start playing Maelstrom missions you'll see the utility quickly. Scoring an objective each turn you control it is much easier if you have mobility, which Raptors do.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
