Just got the imperial book and they destroyed Relic Leviathan (no more veteran, doesn't seem very hard to kill anymore) and the Lucius Drop Pod no longer provides cover like it did before, and you have to disembark immediately now instead of waiting inside for a turn. So why would you ever take this pod now?

I understand that, but the point of the Lucius was to protect your Dread. But now it doesn't do that.

On another note, Bray'arth Ashmantle is far superior than a Leviathan

*EDIT: And now I know why. Relic Leviathans are way cheaper while Bray'arth is over 150 points more than any other character in the book. Holy hell is he expensive.

Bray'arth Ashmantle is also a character and thus exceedingly hard to target half the time too

Maybe, just maybe, it is because the cover save for the dread didn't actually work to begin with.

The shrouded rule only benefited models "remaining on its structure" which, as a model itself was impassible terrain. And if "remaining on its structure" just meant not disembarking(as the Lucius did not require disembark) then the dread couldn't be shot at anyway.

The pod wasn't nerfed, it was simply made functional.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

didn't they break the mold for luscious and did not indicate if they were replacing it? if so then there is no money to be made on it anymore so why give it good rules when you could later release something that does it better.

at the points cost (and $ cost) just spring for a stormraven

Because a Stormraven doesn't block LOS to their big shooter. Or provide cover fire to those troops behind said big scary unit. Or protect your dread and allow it to assault (though now that's changed)

if memory serves you now can't stay inside the drop pod and while it may provide cover it is hard to black LOS completely to a dred once the drop pod opens. honestly I would rather zip up a storm raven, then drop off the dred behind actual LOS blocking cover if desired or better yet right next to something to shoot, flame and charge

Oh for sure now, but I dont have a Raven lol. I was just wondering why they made the Lucius a regular drop pod now.
