Haven't really seen any discussion threads on Titans - based armies. Obviously any big game can include a titan, but the Superheavy Auxiliary Detachment means that you can now easily build a battle-forged army of 1-2 true titans (rather than just a superheavy detachment of baneblades, knights or hierodules), plus maybe a patrol or battalion of cheap rippers, grotz, cultists or guardsmen as objective holders and bubblewrap.

One thing to note is that titans are now a lot more...err....titanic. at 2000 points, the only titanicus engine you can field is a warhound.

This is a nasty piece of work - its finally capable of keeping up with and even outrunning other fast units. You need to use this speed, because it'll be the only unit able to go out and take objectives.

Its worth noting the difference between the heavier and lighter warlord weapons for similar reasons: the plasma blastgun is probably the best "tactical" weapon - enought rate of fire to chop up infantry and enough punch to threaten tanks. The turbolaser is scarier against big units like land raiders and knights, but if I was plugging a warhound into an army, dual blastguns are probably the way to go. For an independent unit, the classic blastgun and vulcan or flamer as a backup weapon.

For an independent unit, remember that vulcans and inferno guns can fire overwatch, whilst macro weapons cant. The inferno gun is a great "sod off" weapon, with a reasonable chance of exterminating a charging astartes squad wholesale.

Anyone have any experience using just a warhound or hierophant as the core of your army?

Revenants and Ta'Unar are a bit more awkward - one plus an escorting knight or stormsurge is about the best you can do.

Orks can have a pair of stompas as quite a nice 2000 point army.

General rules - yes, you can take wounds from bolters and lasfire. But the odd wound here or there is not a big deal. You can stand in rapid fire eangw of a full guard infantry lasrifle company and not lose enough wounds to knock you down a stat level.

Melee is important for a titan force. Titanic stride giving you triple attacks is nice, but youre still not massively better than, say, a dreadnought. 'Pouncing' on abpn easy kill whilst engaging other targets with guns may be key - you can't waste damage potential.
