If you place a Culexus closest to the enemy psykers does he function as a lightning rod preventing all smites from being cast? In my opinion he does not because his rule says he cannot be affected, and had it stopped there I would've agreed with the lightning rod interpretation but it also says he cannot be targeted by psychic powers so in my mind it means he will just be ignored from the targeting of smite. What do you think Dakka?

Smite doesn't target anything,as clarified by the Stepping Into a New Edition document.

Where is this document from? Is it a GW one? I hope it's an official one because it clears up a lot of stuff right there.

So just to be clear, the document says it "affects" the closest enemy unit, the Culexus can't be targeted or "affected" in any way by Psychic Powers. So what do we do of the Smite ? Do we consider it has to target the second closest enemy unit or do we have to just say he eats the Smite without further effect ?

This really needs an official specific FAQing, if the Smite is just moved to another unit I'll just sell my Sisters of Silence because damn they're useless this edition.

There is no FAQ needed, smite just does d3 mortal wounds to the closest visible unit, it tries to do this on the culexus and the culexus is unaffected by it and suffers no wounds, smite has done its effect, move on to the next spell,

This. Smite has no "if it can't do stuff then next dude along" rule.

Yeah, the whole point of the guy is to stop people from smiting your nearby unit.
