I play Eldar Soup, Tyranids and Inquistion mainly and I have to say I've been really enjoying 8th. I'm primarily a Dark Eldar player rather than a CWE player (Being playing the True Kin since they were released the first time!) I thought I'd just make a few comments about my armies and how I'm finding them in this edition and invite everyone else to do the same. I'd prefer of we kept things on a positive note, there are loads of threads for griping, but I don't want to be blind to faults either, simply not have them as the focus.

Eldar Soup

I can take a mix of Coven and Ynarri now. This makes me very happy as I love the Yncarne and Yrvaine models, but the Coven forces are my favourites from the Dark Eldar range, so this means I can put all my favourite things in one list!

Mandrakes are wonderful now. I mean really an amazing unit, points efficient source of mortal wounds, great shooting, solid in combat, good at grabbing objectives. They really are what you want from your elites slot I think. I find myself using them in all sorts of ways, as deep striking harassing units, as my main shooting unit in Venoms, as Assassins and as objective grabbers and the nice thing is they can do all these things without changing loadout, so the list can morph depending on the opponent.

Almost everything is useable and most things are good. This means there is a real tension in choosing things. Scourges or ravagers, for example? That's a tough choice. The Ravager is tougher and doesn't get the penalty to fire when moving, but the scourges get an extra lance, for the same average hits on the move, or more stood still and the ability to DS in corner cases where that is useful. If playing them as Ynarri they can also Soulburst. I've played frequently with a squad of Scourges and Yrvaine. Ancestors Grace followed by word of the Phoenix is lovely, more than doubling the output of this incredibly hard hitting unit. Equally Ravagers cruising around throwing out damage is great.

Taloi with Liquefiers! These are great. 2d6 autohits, they are only S3, but the AP -1-3 makes up for that. Add in Doom and they can suddenly kill all sorts of things (I killed a land raider with 3 of these for example, hot dice obvs). Sadly the Taloi are less good in combat now, but as the Grotesques are now absolute beasts that seems fine, the 5++ and 6+++ both units get is also a great bonus.

I'll comment about more things (and my other armies) later. The floor is yours.
