Doing a little tournament with friends this weekend to adjust to the new rules. This is a TAC list and I'll be facing things like Eldar, MEQ, Primaris, maybe Tau, etc.

Battalion Detachment (+3CP)

Warboss – bike 95
Big Mek – KFF, bike 110

30 Boyz – BC 189
30 Boyz – BC 189
10 Gretchin – 30

Nobz – BCs 130
Trukk – wrecking ball 79
Nob w/ Waaagh banner 79

25 Stormboyz – BC 209
3 Deffkoptas – big shootas 201

Supreme Command Detachment (+1CP)

Weirdboy (Da Jump) 62
Weirdboy (Warpath) 62
Weirdboy 62

1497

The idea is to run the Stormboyz up and Jump a unit of Boyz as an immediate large threat. The rest follows, koptas grab objectives/bomb things. The Trukk is to reduce the number of drops.
Thoughts?

Doesn't placing a unit inside a transport count as a drop? Other than that i like the idea. Just may wanna squeeze in some klaws and big shootas and such, maybe even rokkits. You are lacking in armor punch a bit there.

The trukk is the only thing that stands out in my eyes. You might be better off getting another unit of Stormboys (if you have that many models) rather than trukks. That way you still only have 1 drop and the stormboys will give you additional mobility and some (albeit poor) air control.

Another alternative would be to throw a dakkajet into your list instead of the trukk. They put out a lot of shots and could start pegging problem units from turn 1.

Haven't thought about a Dakkajet, but unfortunately don't have the models for more Stormboyz (thats the dream lol).

Not a fan of klaws or rokkits so far in my test games.

So is the consensus that it's not worth taking the Trukk even though it takes me from 12 drops to 8 and have a much higher chance to get Turn 1?

Am i wrong, placing units in transports don't count as drops? Have yet to get a game in so I'm legit asking

I think that placing a loaded transport is one drop. ie Put weirdboy, Boss and Boyz in Truk...one "drop" three/four units.

Yeah a loaded transport is one drop, so in my list it's the Nobs, Nob with banner, and the 3 weirdboys all in there. Warboss is on bike so can't

Gotcha, thank you very much for clarifying that. Wow, that makes my 1250 IG 6 drops instead of 11! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/732011.page

So what's your opening strategy with the weirdboyz? Deploy the truck semi backfield next to a big mob, have the jump guy get out before moving and haul the rest up field inside? Might also consider taking the big mek off the bike and sticking his kff in the transport to give it a little protection and possibly the same to other units when he gets out.

Some points costs are wrong:

Big mek with KFF and bike is 101, he arrives at 110 with a big choppa.

Trukk is 82 points bare bones because a big shoota (or a more expensive rokkit) is mandatory, with a wrecking ball it's 85.

Deffkoptas with big shootas are 69 points each, which makes the 3 koptas squadron 207 in total.

The warboss without a big choppa or a klaw is useless. Taking big choppas instead of klaws is perfectly fine. The anti tank is completely absent though.

Hi Blackie, apologies for my points errors. Thought a twin big shoota was just two big shootas lol, missed the madatory big shoota on the Trukk, and both my Mek and the Warboss have the big choppas but I didn't write it down (madatory on the warboss of course).

Danro that's pretty much the exact plan lol. I'm not too worried about the Trukk itself, it's more to minimise drops than actually transport things haha! The fast things (stormboyz, characters on bikes, and jumped boyz) should hold up the enemy while my other stuff walks.

As for anti tank I'm finding boyz sufficient for my needs and meta! They can comfortably take on light armour, and Weirdboy smite spam can take wounds of other stuff at a decent rate I find!
