I'm thinking every since I bought a Giant Chaos Spawn that I want to look to add more Forge world Units into my army. I'd like peoples opinions on what units are really viable from a 2000-3000 point list range. thanks guys I'm pumped about some units like the Giant Chaos spawn which I think looks amazing as a model and on paper.

I was looking at the new FW book last night and really liked either a Decimator or Hellforged Contemptor in a Dreadclaw. The FAQ makes that work for both models.
Nice thing is the Dreadclaw's Drop Pod assault is optional, so if someone has tons of models in the way of a good drop the Dreadclaw can just deploy normally now and transport like any other. Great for transporting infantry like Berzerkers and Kharn or Dark Apostle too.
Blood Slaughterers are super awesome.
I also like Plague Toads just for annoying resilience (pretty much the same use in Age of Sigmar, in which you could use the Gigantic Spawn too!).
I think a bunch of little spawn running around a giant spawn would be super fun though. Toss in a couple flying daemon princes too for attacking fliers (and herding the spawn). That's my next army project, after finishing 3 or 4 others

Viable from a 2000-3000 points range is a pretty vague concept since that points value is so high. I like the chaos Hellwright and its ability to heal Knights.

I finally bought a leviathan siege dread because the rules for butcher cannons look amazing.
Giant chaos spawn, if anything, looks like a very fun model to put on the table.
Dreadclaw, I have actually tested and it's a pretty good unit if you can position it in a place where its pistol is going to hit multiple targets (which is very easy because it has quite the footprint due to it's landing struts).
My hands were itching to get myself a land raider achilles as well because the potential for mortal wounds seems very good. But my cart was already filled to the figurative brim.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness. |

Yeah I am in love with the leviathan dreads. I think a ton of stuff in there is perfectly viable tbh

I got a Raider Achilles for my AL, partway through conversion work. That thing looks like a beast. A boat load of mortal wounds that can strike anywhere on the board without line of sight - just hit the most dangerous unit on the table each turn, no hiding unless it's a character (but you don't strike them with this cannon anyway), it has 2 double multi-melta's that can cripple any tank by themselves and it can carry a squad of 5 chosen and a lord with plasma and re-rolls. And on top of the typical LR toughness it has more wounds (1 more wound it' have to be classified as a LoW I think) an the 4++. Oh and it can munch bodies to heal lost wounds. You'd need something in the region of 18 lascannon shots to bring this thing down and bypass all that armour. But if you do that piecemeal it can very easily regen some of those wounds in combat. It's presence on the table is enormous. It's not a toothless turtle that you can't bring down but can just ignore. It is deadly. It can tear armour apart - 1 turn shooting it's melta's could very well rip open anything short of a superheavy. And it's gonna be in your face from turn 1 and leveraging those multi-melta's. And then its soulburner bombard pummels the crap out of your opponents key unit, striking fear into them as the bloody thing can hit anywhere! And if you want you can strap on a havoc launcher to put some hurt on infantry, making it dangerous for infantry to assault it. And after all this it dumps a chosen squad and lord right onto the doorstep of your opponent where they can blast the crud out them. You just can't ignore an Achilles, but you can hardly kill it either. You can pour fire into it but you need a huge volume of high-damage shooting to bring it down, enough to stop your opponent firing at anything else for a couple turns. As far as I'm concerned it's the epitome of a hand-forcer, even more so than things like knights. You seriously have to deal with the Achilles because by itself it can wreck an army. So you're left with a lose-lose choice - ignore it and let it tear you apart piece by piece, or shoot everything at it and watch it bounce off that armour.

Contemptors with twin kheres, decimators with soulburners (less effective because of price bump), giant spawn are god tier, leviathan with twin grav flux will obliterate hordes (looking at you, conscripts), the cerastus knights are great (atropos will reliably kill most any SH in one turn of combat - more so with command reroll), the fire raptor is still great, xiphons for anti-tank, the kharybdis (100 points more than dreadclaw and seems so much better), the achilles is crazy durable with 4++ - but there seems to be weird ranged synergy with it's cannon (which should be 3d3 shots imo, to make it better than a standard soulburner petard) and it's multi meltas that require a more aggressive playstyle. RH marauders are fantastic (easily the best renegade unit). That's everything that comes to mind.
Edit: at 3k, you could take a thunderhawk gunship if you were feeling like being that guy. Good amount of dakka for it's points, plus, it's nigh-unkillable without seriously dedicated firepower. Aka massive distraction carnifex.
