I recently started painting a new warband, and I wanted loyalist torsos for it. Upon looking at pictures of the tactical marine sprues on Google, half of them seem to have X-shaped belts on them like jump marines, and the rest all have aquilas. I think the belts look... dumb on them.

I had one marine torso without any iconography on it, just studs across the top and a little port, which came from some small single-marine non-snapfit sprues whose origin I'm unaware of. Does anyone know where I can get a decent number of torsos like that, or at least aquila ones? The cost of a box of marines is too damn high to get half of them with torsos I don't want to use.

Is there one on the vehicle sprue?

Is the vehicle sprue the one that comes with a Rhino? That torso's got a mechanicum gear on it. Close enough for me to smooth off at least, but it's just a single torso.

Spoiler:

Is it the one with the skull you're after? If so that's from the old Tactical sprue.

The alternative is to go 3rd party - Anvil have some nice ones (but are UK based)

The circled one isn't from the old Tac sprue. It's from the Command Squad/old Dev Squad sprue. The one which also has kneeling legs.

The Command Squad and Dev Squad had the same regular torsos as the Tac squad.

Thanks VikingChild, and beast_gts. Those do look good enough, particularly the Anvil ones. They'll be cheaper than getting the real torsos since there's apparently only one like I want in the command squad box.

Ragnar69: I'll take a look at those mark IIIs. I'm mainly just wanting current marks, without the goofy cross straps. What are those things supposed to be, anyway?

Also, does anyone know where the small sprues I had came from? The parts were on multiple small sprues, broken up into individual marines. One sprue would have legs and torso and head, and another would have arms and shoulders and gun. The backpacks for the whole group(five I think) were on their own tiny sprue. I've not managed to find photos of them online, and I tossed the original sprues after I'd built the marines.

If you can find a bits store that still actually has bits, the blank torso used to be about the least popular, so they were often cheaper than the others. Still possibly cheaper and easier to look at a third party alternative, though.

Sounds like the original 3rd edition Marine sprues. They recut them in 5th(?) edition onto the single sprue.

They are Mark IV torsos and supposed to be power cables. I use them for jump troops
