I collect Space Wolves and they're all still only base coated, I was thinking why are all thunderwolves not white? they come from the 'North Pole' of Fenris a (mostly) frozen planet why wouldn't they be white or winter wolves.

Wanted to know what people thought of this and how to go about painting white wolves, regarding GW paints (I'm pretty new to painting).

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm still debating whether I want lighter coloured wolves, brown oriented, or just plain black.

If you mean pure white I'd probably base coat grey, than start working up with like creamy colours until you reach white. The under belly is usually a lighter colour and the center of the back is usually darker.

if you're looking for more of a huskey like look, nextlevelpainting does a great tutorial, and there are a couple more on youtube.

I'd follow this tutorial and adapt it for the Thunderwolves:

defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

White Wolves seems to still have a dark spot on their backs

but ultimately they are not really earth wolves and also they are 40k into the future. if painting lazy just white and a very thinned down sepia or earthshade to get a tiny bit of brown into them would be perfect. since they are not magical pure white ice wolves.

Fenris is not an ice planet. It has an extremely elliptical 2 standard year orbit that causes it to go through major extremes between cold and heat, with major geological disturbance.

Very, very far from the "north pole of planets."

However, they are your wolves. Rule of cool is number one, you could make them brindle coated if you wanted.
