Does this mean that all units from one detachment must have ALL faction keywords similar? Or just one?
Just one faction keyword in common is needed, so in your example you could use 'Imperium' and have a detachment made up of astra militarum, different astartes chapters, assassins etc, as long as they had the right type to fit in a spare slot (troops, fast attack etc)
A few notes though;
Faction keywords are used for selecting your army and detachments; not other keywords. However, for other rules it doesn't matter if it's an ordinary keyword or faction keyword.
Auras (6" re-roll bubbles etc) often have more specific keyword requirements, so
AM can't take advantage of astartes-only buffs, many chapter specific abilities don't apply generally to all astartes etc. Just be aware of what keywords are required for which abilities to apply from the datasheets.
Some armies have additional rules - genestealer cults, for example, can add a detachment of
AM for each cult detachment, even though they share no faction keywords.
When codexes come out they will supercede the indexes for those armies for datasheets and points. They will also have additional strategems and probably wargear etc that will require more specific keywords. Current info indicates that, for example, an all-astartes detachment will be able to use additional strategems, and one made up only of a specific chapter will have additional strategems on top of that. But if you don't mind missing out on those benefits, a more generic keyword army will remain a fluffy and interesting choice.
