Pretty Straightforward - if you table your opponent, is the game over, even if they have undeployed models in reserve?

Froth at the top, dregs at the bottom, but the middle - excellent

In matched play, yes, as long as it's not the first battle round. See page 215.

Thanks for the quick reply... Like a fool I didn't pre-order the core book so I don't have a copy on hand.

That's too bad IMHO b/c it'd be a nice way to discourage ITC cheese like Tau Comm spam.

So in theory, you could alpha strike on turn 2 if your army consists entirely on units that can leave the board.

Example:
My army consists of 3 Skathach WraithKnights.
I must deploy at least 2 of them according to the deployment rules, but the third can be set up "in the webway"
Since I only had 3 drops, I will almost always go first.
On my turn 1, I can either bring in the 3rd WK or jump the other 2 into the webway with it
If I choose to jump them all into the webway on turn 1, I would not auto-lose because it is still the first battle round. My opponent now has nothing to do but move around
On my turn 2, I drop in all 3 WKs for an alpha strike

I'm pretty sure that's how it works

it wouldn't do anything of the sort. Those list would still win the game regardless

Do note that sudden death victory only comes into play at the end of a turn so if the enemy has a way to set up more models after all their models on the table are destroyed but before the end of the turn (eg. Yncarne, Guilliman) then thay can still do so and the game wont end. It also means that the person with models left would still have to take any relevant morale checks and could also lose the rest of his models too. The latter has actually happened to me when my last tank blew up killing most of my opponents last squad who then all ran away to make it a draw.

What? No. Tabled is a general term for having your whole army destroyed
