Hi,

I am trying to paint Imperial Guardsmen with yellow armor. I've primed them with averland sunset. I will put a coat of flashgitz yellow on top and use some sepia as per some youtube. Videos for doing yellow armor have directed.

My question now, is what colors to do their khakis in. Please keep in mind that I am a beginner painter.

I painted my space leopards in a scheme close. Here are some pictures maybe you see it in action. The khaki needs to be a bit more contrasted. If you want them to look like actual khaki go darker.
Or a deep yellow like what they call Dorn yellow and then wash it with brown? I like Orange/darker red as a contrast to yellow, but you can stay with the color wheel (yellow is across from purple...so any blue to red to brown could work)
In any case, welcome to painting! Let us know how it goes!
Anyway, maybe some ideas...full pages here

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

If you don't want them to heavily contrast but also don't want them to simply be yellow, you could do them a beige (eg, Rakarth Flesh).

If you want them to contrast but not stab you in the eyes with insane contrast, then a medium to dark brown could work.

If you do want it to stab you in the eyes with insane contrast you could try something like purple, lol.

Personally I reckon beige khakis with dark brown accents (belts, straps, pouches) could look pretty cool, maybe use a more vibrant red for some markings to create a bit more pop. You usually can't go wrong when adding a touch of red to any model.

Thanks for the tips,

Red huh? What about Mephiston red as a base? If i went that roure, would I want to layer anything on top of that?

Do ypu think Zandri Dust would be too drab or dark?

Also there is Mournfang brown.

Which citadel beige could I use? I can't figure out which is beige.

Also, which brown and reds would you suggest (as in the names)

Well, I guess Zandri Dust will not work well with the Averland sunset, as my test human BB player will attest to: https://imgur.com/gallery/nrtsu
