I found a bag o' zombie dogs at a local game store. The bag has 100 models for about $14
The scale of the minis is much smaller than 40K, so these dogs are about the size of a single Brimstone horror

Since the sculpt is inferior quality, it actually wouldn't look bad painted up like fire (meaning it wouldn't necessarily look like a rotten flesh dog). And mold-lines may actually help it look like flames
I could buy the bag and some 25mm bases and put 2 dogs per base and they might look pretty good. That would give my 50 models for about $20
I already have a few "hound-themed" minis including Plague Hound 'Beasts" and Griffhound "Screamer/Flamers: http://glennsgwmodels.blogspot.com/2016/09/hounds-of-chaoa.html

Given that it would suit my running theme and I would then sell my current 30 GW Brimstones (which will easily cover the cost of this project and then some), do you guys think this is a worth-while project?
My only issue with it is that there is only 1 sculpt, so all the dogs are exactly the same. En masse I hope that won't be an issue, especially since I can position each pair in different ways

Thoughts?

No opinions yet?

I don't normally like to bump my own threads, but since I posted this on the weekend, I want to give it 1 more chance to be seen/commented on.

I needed some zombie dogs for a dungeon crawl expansion I did. Looked at the BoZ dogs, but thought they were too small, and I really only needed 6 of them.

If you need that many, you cannot beat the price. Sure, the sculpts are not great, but a good paint job can help, somewhat, along with some differing poses and basing.

As far as my dogs, I almost bought a gathering from various manufacturers, but it started to get expensive. So, I just used a base form, sculpted a dog, made a mold and injected it with polyurethane. I already had all the mold making stuff, so now I have 6 nice sized dogs for the game. Although they are all the same pose, I was pretty happy the way they came out.
