I'm interested to hear people's thoughts are on what ranged weapon to best arm my Imperial Knight with in the new edition?

Previously I used a Thermal Cannon but it's D3/D6 shots and D6 damage are very off putting so I'm torn between the Rapid-Fire Battle Cannon and the Avenger Gatling Cannon? The Gatling cannon provides 12 strength 6 shots at -2 and 2 damage, whilst the Battle Cannon does 2D6 strength 8 shots at -2 but with D3 damage, the latter guaranteeing full 12 shots are a reduced strength while the other one is stronger vs monsters & tanks but a bit more luck based.

Seems fairly unambiguously the AGC in most situations. The battle cannon has the same maximum number of shots but far more likely less, has the same average damage but less reliable. Same rend, so the only genuine selling point of the battle cannon is the +2 to strength.

Going by the avaliable stats, frankly if I want a large vehicle dead I'll go over and kick it!

The Gatling is better than the Battle Cannon against all targets other than those with T7, although the difference isn't that big vs T6-8 generally.

The Gatling is better than the Thermal Cannon against all targets other than those with T7/T8 with 2+ or 3+, except if those targets also have a 5++ or better. And even when it is better the difference is small.

There is some argument to be made for the Battle Cannon given the range and the prevalence of T7. The Gatling is a better generalist. Thermal cannon seems pretty bad, maybe if you want a CP reroll target?
