Man... so I have been working on updating my guard army to be much more WYSIWYG centric, and in drops 8th with some decent changes.

I can roll with a new edition for my guard, though thankfully I didnt come up with any crazy platoon designations since thats gone. That said, I am hearing that things might get shaken up again when a new book drops, with options changing, new units, etc.

What are your expectations for a new codex and how are you handling your current modeling to anticipate and adapt?

I'm thinking the ork codex will be about the same as always, leaving orks cheap, but elites and heavies being somewhat overpriced because of their 6+ saves.

The clan tactics will be very welcome and (hopefully) fluffy. I'm a little fearful for my Blood Axes, getting something like +1 save when already in cover, or something else that's hard to use.

I think we will get new models, presumably buggies and koptas, maybe a new warboss...mabye something brand new. They will probably sell very well.

Other than that, not much. I'll buy it.

Just lean back and relax. I don´t expect serious changes. Platoon squads will still be equipped with one special & one heavy weapon. They might change the number of special weapons in veteran and specialist squads. But who cares? My Catachan Force is fully painted since 4th and I won´t change any weapon loadout. If any opponent refuses to play against your guard because of said reasons look for another player.

Not expecting a Guard Codex this year tbh

GW have said they willl the for "Major Factions" only . Now they have also said that there will be about 10 codexes released before Christmas - 3 of these have already been confirmed _ Grey Knights, Chaos Space Marines, Death Guard

Then its likely to be Space Wolves, Thousand Sons, Blood and Dark Angels

Might be room for a couple of non marine codexes - I would think Daemons, Orks and Eldar, plus maybe Necrons might squeeze in - Unless any other Marine dexes slip in. I would be shocked if there weas no Primus Codex as well. They have kept saying the focus is on Imperium vs Chaos (well Marines vs Chaos)

Anyone else likely 2018 at the earliest - So Tau, Guard, Agents, Dark Eldar.

A long time.

Now there will be for the Guard (and all the other Codex blessed) Regimental Tactics, a relic for each regiment and strategms. Same with Orks and Clans, Taus and Septs, Necrons and Dynasties etc.

Actual new stuff isaonly a maybe for anyone save Primus Marines. I would be surprised to see new basic Marine models though

I AM A MARINE PLAYER

"Unimaginably ancient xenos artefact somewhere on the planet, hive fleet poised above our heads, hidden 'stealer broods making an early start....and now a bloody Chaos cult crawling out of the woodwork just in case we were bored. Welcome to my world, Ciaphas."
Inquisitor Amberley Vail, Ordo Xenos

"I will admit that some Primachs like Russ or Horus could have a chance against an unarmed 12 year old novice but, a full Battle Sister??!! One to one? In close combat? Perhaps three Primarchs fighting together... but just one Primarch?" da001

Well, most of my purchases in the near future are going to be DG related (unless things go badly with our codex). I'm currently just waiting till the full range releases to make major purchases. Oh and apparently I'm getting a lot of new mech units from forgeworld, 30k stuff translated to 40k, so that's another major cash sink in keeping my eye on.

For now, I'm mostly proxying/using conversions depending on how generous you want to be. I figure learning enough about my army now will mean I'll be able to tell what is/isn't good and what holes I need to fill in my army early on. P

I'm also stripping my predators down and magnetizing them properly as I want to try alternate loadouts, but I've been meaning to do that for a while and just haven't bothered.
