So I'm a little confused
So I generally run my Nurgle warband as my own home brew one but I'm wondering can I mix units which have to have death guard with units from my own Burgle warband in the same detachment. Ie I declare the detachment as a chaos Nurgle detachment as all models share the chaos and Nurgle keywords thats OK right?

You only need to pick one common keyword for your army. You could pick Chaos OR Nurgle. You don't need to pick 'Chaos Nurgle'. But yes... you can mix units in one detachment so long as everything in the army shares a keyword.

HOWEVER... chances are pretty good that when the new Codexes come out that you'll only benefit from the new rules if every unit in a detachment (maybe army) shares, say, the Death Guard keyword. We don't yet know how this will work, but that's the way it works in Age of Sigmar. You don't get Sylvaneth special rules unless every unit or battalion in your army has the Sylvaneth faction keyword.

I know that will probably happen at some point as I know when the vanilla csm Dex comes out I'll probably be moving the death guard stuff into a seperate detachment.

Or you can just give everything the Death Guard Keyword and paint them however you want. You can paint them pink and purple and call them Death Guard for all the rules care.
