When you go to fight, you pick how many of your base attacks to use on which weapon.

So, let's say a Berzerker is now going to swing. You have him equipped with a Chainsword and a Chainaxe.

Base attacks is 2.

You can split them up as either:

2 Axe & 1 Sword (extra) or 1 Axe & 2 Sword (1 normal 1 extra).

Or double up on Chainsword: 4 attacks total no matter how many you assign to each weapon.
