Hi all,

I'm in the process of slowly building up an Imperial Fists force and am looking for some sources to get a better feel for the ethos of the Chapter and motivate me as I work on assembling this whole force. Any recommendations are very welcome. I'm building a 5th company force with some elements of the 1st and 10th companies attached. So if you know any stories that particularly focus on characters from those chapters I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Albireous

right behind you

Look at the horus heresy stuff, they haven't changed all to much so far as I know, just removed the more "divergent" personalities.

I quite enjoyed their portrayal in The Beast Arises series, a bit different from the norm and shows the lingering effects of the Heresy on the Chapter

Please do yourself a favor and read 'Space Marine' by Ian Watson, it's one of my all time favorite novels and I tend to read it at least once a year without tiring of it at all! granted a lot of the fluff has been retconned in regards to Squats and Zoanthropes but the story itself is great and well written with a real sense of the dark and dirty imperium.

Space marine is a solid read.

Older and some things as said. Put of date. Still solid book and story. Characters are decent.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

Agree. The writing is somehow both pretentious and terrible, but that can be said of a lot of GW's writers. But the background and the battles are damn cool. You'll get tired of reading about their "pus-colored armor" after a while though.

I quite liked Praetorion of Dorn, although more for the Alpha legion shenanigans.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I really liked Praetorion of Dorn for its depiction of the man himself and was a good reflection of the roots of the Fists' culture. I really dug the description of the solar system as one big, moving fortress, and a very solid finale.

I'm not finished the Beast series, but I like it so far.

The Beast series made me scrap my plans to repaint my Imperial Fists as Angry Marines.

Good to know. Any good characters whose fates are unclear? I'm trying to name my leviathan dreadnaughts, and if I can find one some character in the lore who I can use that would be pretty fun.
