Subject: Visit to hobby store: huge brushes!

I had a recent visit to a local miniature modelling store and found an interesting array of brushes.
These had thick handles and huge heads, overall pretty similar in appearance to the brush my grand mother would have used to apply blusher!
In terms of hobby, what could I use such a brush for?

Drybrushing? Tanks? Terrain?
Generally I'd say anything that doesn't require detail work
|
I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy. |

I have one of those, use it for making broad stokes with my basecoat for tanks and planes. Don't use it much, but it's nice to have on hand due to lack of airbrush.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard. |

Unless you're doing work that specifically requires a fine detail brush, IMO your best bet is to use the largest brush that you can for any given area.

Note, I'm not being hyperbolic, I literally mean what would you use something of this size for:

You mean you have something like this fakebritishperson? is it even possible to be used for wet paint? Is it for applying powder like you would with your face?

I bought one of those soft makeup brushes to dust minis. Sometimes I start on a batch of minis and get distracted by something else for a long while. I use the brush to dust them down before doing further work on them.
GW sells something of a similar size with stiffer bristles for painting terrain:

Not that big, I assumed you were being hyperbolic

I still don't know how big that is. Don't blush brushes come in a whole range of sizes just like every other brush
Give us a dimension here, are you talking 0.5" wide, 1" wide, 2" wide, 3"wide?
Some makeup brushes make for good drybrushes and others are good as wash brushes or as others have said, application of weathering powders. I've raided makeup sets for brushes before for my modelling brushes.

Terrain;
Base coating, dry brushing, applying glue for flocking.
Big minis;
Dry brushing, shading, pigments.
yes, they have uses.

I didn't think it was a GW brush, but perhaps it actually was the one that Manchu linked.
Sking I'll check the size if I get to go to this store again! It's big enough for a grandma to smash red onto her face with.
And thank you everybodssy for all the suggestions, I am quite tempted to go buy some actual make up brushes now!

Just an fyi: make up brushes work ok for spreading powders, or for dusting, but may not be stiff enough for drybrushing.
