Ok so my space leopards (white scars sub chapter) dread, is now going to become two. One will now be inronclad. This one; Obadai. As you can see he already has a massive Chinese style sword (I sculpted that hand, pretty proud of it too...). Any way, the theme is of course Mongolian etc, so I found a picture of a Chinese spear blade (please go easy on my lack of knowledge of Chinese weapons etc...I have a masters in military history...but no focus in ancient Asia. Ask me about the Pacific War and I'll talk your ear off....). Anyway, this is what I came up with. Input appreciated. Does it work as the "chainfist" equivalent for you on the table? Anyone see something it needs? (I plan to add ribbons and such to make it fit my theme.
[edit] The hand is still in progress. Going to add gears and wiring between joints etc. Might need to armor it up more?

All dread arms are of course interchangeable (magnets etc)

Good looking stuff! Love the hat/helmet on dread. Dont know if dreads have any missile launchers/rocket pods but they could with theme.

I've never seen a dread up close. Is the other arm scratchbuilt too?

Neat looking, but probably a living hell to use on the table, what with the polearm sticking way, way out front like that.

Thanks guys!
John Prins: I haven't used it on the table, but clearly you are right. this guy will be somewhat clumsy on the table. Mostly I play with my local group so will be ok, but at a tournament, may cause me problems.
Ninjapirate: I love my silly mongolian cap sculpt, it really brings out the theme perfectly. As a note he normally carries a twin lascannon on right arm, that is modeled with bows on the ends of the barrels. The gallery linked below shows it clearly.
Salabasam, in this case both arms are converted. The right arm is completely scratch built from mostly vehicle bits, and a few tau bits as well as plasti-card. The left arm (with the sword) uses a regular dread close combat arm, I then converted the hand area to hold the sword by using greenstuff to sculpt it. GO to this gallery to see better pictures:

I like it, but....(and this is just my 2 copper)

I think that you are out of scale on the arm, hand and the weapon. I'd shave a MM or two off the length off the upper arm, shorten the fingers, remove the hydraulic bit off the back of the forearm and shave the blade thinner.

Additions; add a counter weight to the end of the weapon's shaft, I've found that a mace head works nicely. And file down the cutting edges of the blade into more of a knife edge.

Thanks Mud Duck. I have an old SM eagle standard thing I shall use as a counterweight. Sadly although i agree about the scale a bit long, I'm a bit worried about trying to shorten it now. The fingers are stuck where they are as well, just do not think I have the skill to redo them. Appreciate the time and ideas though, good points.
