hello there i was thinking of adding some badass close combat punch to my IG army, a smal Inquisitorial strike force 5 vanguard vets(shields and maces) 4 acolytes flames and a Inquisitor with a daemon hammer arriving by drop pod.
Since im'e new, does this sound like a cool litle idea? anny other suggestions?

I like acolytes because of the color that you can bring to the army. This seems less so now but still, if you are building a collection for the long term then the next edition or even some chapter approved or the expected codex release might return the inquisitorial retinue to glory. With this in mind, and figuring that you are not a WAAC or a FAAC hobbyist but somewhere in the middle, then I like your idea. Sounds fun.

Acolytes are a little overcosted, but not game breakingly.
Drop Pods don't really work well for CC units. You can't move after you get out, and you have to deploy 9" away from enemies (outside flamer range). And if you don't roll a 9 or greater, you're going to fail your charge. You might have more luck putting them in a Rhino. The Rhino can move up the field while absorbing enemy fire, and then on the next turn you unload, move, and charge. As long as the Rhino makes it to contact it eats the overwatch fire, and your troops can charge in safely.

dont your guys in the drop-pod get to disembark 3 from the drop pod when it comes on? bringing them into flamer range and a decent charge range?

Nope, they also have to be over 9 away when they finish getting out.

Drop pods are basicly 10 points per model temporary jump packs
and a tough single body to sit on an objective. other wise like jump packs and teleporation you all end up needing one wicked charge to get into CC
if it was too consistant that everyone would be doing it.

Acolytes cost considerably more than units that are objectively better at everything they might ever try to do in any given loadout. They're awful.
Pretty much everything with the 'Inquisition' tag is in an absurdly bad place right now. If you're looking to win games, don't take them. Greyfax is an okay psychic denial, but the Imperium already has good, cheaper options for that that do more for your army (hello, Culexus), and she's stuck just using smite herself since the Inquisitional psychic powers are mediocre on a good day.

Yes, they cost too much. A whole 5 points too much. If the dude wants to play acolytes, its not going to break his game. He's not going to build a whole army of acolytes. I don't think GW even considers the inquisition to be an army. If they were marines they'd just be a chapter that takes all the regular units and brings a few only it has. Kind of like Black Templar I suppose.

Inquisition doesn't need to be a full army. But they need to not be terrible (and entirely unfluffy in their representation).
